I think WD needs to update the market soon on this. Either to confirm that they have agreed to all of the terms and conditions as requested by the Malawi government and are now just waiting for them to conclude their process, or if the outstanding issues cited in that article are a red line for the company, to find an alternative solution quickly and update the market accordingly. As another posted said earlier, they are not likely to be issues that have come out of the blue.
From what I have seen and read about WD and the progress the company has made since long before I became a shareholder, I am backing him to deliver. Also impressed with his share purchases, even if I can understand why some holders were miffed at the most recent raise. I would have been too, had I been on board around that time. Anyway, a fairly relaxed holder at the time of print - but things must not be allowed to drift from here. IMO. GLA.

Yes. That is my take as well, Sigas. BOD either need to sign up to it, assuming it is not intolerable, or update the market with next steps if it is. Not sure there is an alternative but to agree to their terms. Anyone with a different opinion to this?

Hmmm. Looks like the SP will return lower while we wait for the Malawi politicians to be satisfied. Hope we get it resolved soon and their demands are reasonable enough to get things moving. GLA.

GLEN (and similar) benefited from the disgraceful QE pump and lack of sensible interest rate policies that we are going to be paying for for many more years than we gained from it. Agree as to the point if you were referring to the 2015 commodities crash though. That was a golden opportunity not driven by central bank juice, as such. FWIW, I think commodity stocks are going to be even more desirable in the next few years; gold, silver, copper and uranium in particular, along with rare earth metals. Not because said commodities will significantly increase in value, but because our fiat currencies are going to continue to depreciate significantly. The latest CPI print is a case in point. And that is a doctored number anyway. Shadow Stats is worth a read, if you are so inclined. Too much debt, interest rates already putting the banking system in peril and inflation untamed. Nowhere for the BoE to go. High inflation for years and years, or a Depression. All IMO of course and I hope to be wrong. Good evening all.

Until we get a formal RNS, I am not getting my hopes up. Assuming the account is genuine, would be quite amusing that it has leaked via an official on a social media platform. But as also noted elsewhere, not signed yet, so regardless of the twitter comment, it needs signing. And need to allow for TIA :)

I wonder what would happen if another party came up with an offer above 237p, but with a take it or leave it, time-restricted deadline, such as prior to results day? Not sure if such a scenario has ever happened before. Just musing out loud and curious about what would happen. Zero chance of it happening I'm sure, so not an attempt to ramp in advance of next week. Would not impact the SP of a company this size in any case.

The market has yet to be convinced that it is though and so do I now, to be honest. Even with a mediocre sales and marketing strategy. Revenues should by now reflect this thesis. SOH should be drawing a salary that fits with where the company is, rather than a package that would be acceptable if he had now turned OPTI into a cash machine. Then the SP would be multiples of today and you would not hear me mention his salary again. Success justifies reward. That is capitalism. Such remuneration prior to this stage? That is the antithesis of capitalism.

That would be a dream, Andrew. Literally a dream. You are having a dream :) Should miracles happen and OPTI finally starts to generate meaningful revenues and more importantly, a healthy profit involving strong, recurring income, then offers may come in. Until then, SOH will just have to keep on drawing his substantial salary, off the back of us bag holders.

Bordersman: While I have only been a holder here for a short time, I have reviewed a number of the historic RNS's and other material. Your criticism should be aimed squarely at previous management mistakes, not those who would now accept a price lower than you think WG is worth today.
FWIW, I would love for the UK to be on a high growth path. For a number of reasons, some of which span my lifetime, not just as a result of the current crooks in charge, we are going in the wrong direction. The bigger issue IMO is how so many failed corporate leaders get so well remunerated, come what may. Dubious remuneration committees. And a host of other problems that tend to hurt the many, without consequences. It is rife. That is where your anger should be directed, IMO, not at those who have no real control over big listed outfits at the best of times. They are not brainless for being willing to sell at a different price to the one you think is fair value.

I am only a recent holder there. A small position and only in the trading account, in case I need to take the loss.
Like so many stocks, it seems to simply never pay to be a LTH. Take your point about KN, although I do not think he is shifty, but perhaps a bit on the spectrum. Not taking the loss yet, because I want to see how the next few weeks pan out. Not going to go in heavily either though. Now that he has closed that mine, I think the balance sheet will be much improved, especially if silver holds or increases from the current levels. Hopefully a sensible outcome that can mean the mine gets reopened, but difficult to say at this stage. Should also manage to buy back a fair number of shares now too :)

AG news was most annoying. I was almost at my target exit price. That said, I think it might actually be quite a good decision. That mine was a real drag on the company and it might force some positive changes. Not adding to it yet, but if it goes to low 5's, I will. Starting a buy back very soon too. IMO physical metals are running low. We all know the realities of the paper price. At some point, I cannot see how basic arithmetic will not come into play. I commented on another board a few weeks ago I think it was, that spot prices will have to rise, or a number of operations will have to be mothballed. If this thesis plays out, then IMO necessity will result in something more akin to price discovery. Time will tell of course. GLA.

Just some profit taking and de-risking IMO. If a no deal was being priced in right now, you would likely be looking at a good deal lower than this. Again, IMO. I can see 195p - 205p being the level we hover around until results day now. Maybe a spike up or down just before the day in question. Always fun to speculate anyway! GLA.

To what purpose?

I have repurchased some that I sold. My thinking is that I am either going to make at least 15% on this tranche (give or take), in the space of a few weeks at most, or hold them for perhaps another 12-18 months if Apollo walk away from the talks. Assuming the results are indeed in line with guidance (which we have no reason to disbelieve at this point), then circa 200p will still not be expensive IMO, so either scenario sits well with me...although naturally I would prefer the bird in hand sooner, while understanding this sentiment will differ from any LTH's who are underwater. GLA.

One of these days, I am going to wait until the SP drops below the raise price before buying! Oh well, hopefully we get the long-awaited news that will make my hastiness completely unimportant. Come on, Malawi government! IMO you need to show that your country is investible. Tick tock!

Sadly not! Do not have a feel for the markets right now, but would be happy if you are correct. Ideally would like around 170p, but the tranche I have, am happy to hold long term if needed. While my short/medium term outlook remains unchanged, so does my longer term outlook. I feel fairly comfortable in BARC at my current entry price.
