Yeah, if one takes the words of the politician at face value, and the BOD here stick with that demand, then it is a black mark on the BOD and a hit to their credibility too, IMO.

If it was an attempt at bargaining, with a more viable strategy ready, in the likely event that these hard ball efforts would fail - with the ultimate result they do finally deliver by December - then it can be overlooked.

On a seperate note, it does not seem particularly professional (to put it mildly) that the politicians seem to be sharing all of these details of the negotiations so freely in the public domain. Hey ho.

And yet the article, as kindly shared by crumbs, puts a bit more meat on the bone - and demonstrates that it is clearly not a fait accompli yet.

I am sure they could find a company located in the East that are willing to do business in a manner that aligns with the way they do business in Africa. If it comes down to it and there is no other option, of course.

It would not be my preference, but a Songwe deal needs to be done, and something financially tangible needs to be the result. And soon.

Well, I will judge them on whether or not they get Songwe over the line. Simple as that.

I do not think they are going to sacrifice those people who make the business work well, such as the customer service staff.

Agree. It has been interesting reading the broad range of opinions on what this newspaper material might mean for the SP action next week, based on this.

I have no clue if it will rocket, or revisit the 360's (I do not see it going lower than that at this stage, if the latter).

But I am in the camp that thinks this will force MA's hand, one way or the other.

In the short time I have been a holder here, I have got the impression (rightly or wrongly) that the BOD and Povlsen seem to enjoy a particularly close relationship.

Not one that necessarily is to the benefit of the wider shareholder base, IMO.

But, I have a small position here, a low average compared to many I suspect, and am here with a trade, rather than LTH in mind, so for me, this is an interesting development.

That said, I am undecided how to play this. I will watch the action and take a view at the time.

It will also be very interesting to see how the shorts manage their positions. Especially if the market takes it in a positive light.

It is unlikely to be a dull week, either way! GLA.

Shame we did not finish above the 200 DMA, but it has been a good week for the SP. Especially given the general market sentiment in that time.

Very solid day here today. And no significant sell off into the close either, which may, or may not, bode well for building on the last couple of weeks, come Monday. If we finish next week around the same SP as the time of print, IMO that will be satisfactory, although of course I would be happy to see it materially higher than 62p!

Given my core holding is a shade over a quid, the SP has a long way to go before it starts to get interesting, from that perspective :)

I just think it is a case of sellers being exhausted, combined with a few new entries and existing holders adding to their positions, now they feel the dust has settled somewhat.

Short of further negative news, it was always likely to happen in this fashion.

Still think those proclaiming 70p very soon are being overambitious at this stage.

Let's break through, and hold the 62p level for a bit, and then take a view.

Anyway, I shall return after the markets close to see how we finished the day.

Might get a bit of profit taking in the afternoon if the SP breaks much higher, but nothing significant to worry about if it does. And it might well not pull back today of course. GLA.

OK - to demonstrate my earlier point - have a look at the most recent Strix major holdings update.

Look closely at the date where the threshold was met and the date of disclosure.

There really are quite a few of these, all in the public domain, and this is only one of quite a few that I have seen, just in the last year or so. And there must be heaps of others that are not on my radar too.

Not that it really matters.

We all know the bull and the bear cases.

We longs will either be proved right, or wrong. Everything else is just noise.

Largely agree, CSB, although I stand by my previous comments regarding trimming the fat at the same time.

As I keep saying, this is a great outfit, but to unlock its full potential, needs a strong leader, as we had with the founder.

As to the question of the next dividend, not sure it has been announced yet.

Yes. I could see a short term base case of 56p in relation to that little trading range I mentioned. But just a guess of course.

I would also just add that it is not unusual to see a TR-1 printed quite a long time after the fact.

Not that I agree with tardy notifications (although it is usually the holder, not the company, to blame in these events) - but it is what it is.

To the poster who suggested the volume was too low to signify II activity: perhaps, although again, I have known occasions where a big player has had strict price controls in place, meaning they are willing to fill an order more gradually, as they will not pay more than X per share.

Not suggesting this is the case here. I have absolutely no idea, but a point worth mentioning, I think. GLA.

IMO, we are starting to see some good SP foundations taking root here, especially given the general direction of the wider markets.

Circa 58p-62p feels a feasible new trading range for a bit. But if I am wrong, blame my crystal ball, not me :)

I think talk of 70p plus without company-specific news is unlikely though.

Re BAC: It must be nice having the comfort blanket of GSIB status.

It is pretty much the only reason why I would not short that name, if I were inclined to the short side.

As for BARC, well, I did not fancy taking another trade this morning. I did think about it briefly, but the chart did not give me the confidence to do so.

But given my chart-reading skills, that is probably a screaming buy signal :) GLA.
