Beachandsurf, I would imagine that JCB will be looking simply to burn the Hydrogen in their current ICE engines - either co-combustion with diesel or through their new hydrogen cylinder head. This is by far the quickest/cheapest way to make inroads into the diesel consumption of the Australian mining industry.

My understanding is that neither of these need anything like 5x9 purity - and in the co-combustion approach even 3x9 would be overkill.

Interesting, though, that while the "media speculation" was about "sounding out", the published denial was only that the company "has no intention to conduct a placing at this time". There was no denial of the sounding out bit, so we are really none the wiser on whether the company is engaged in talks about some form of major fund-raise. We just know that an outcome to any such process is not imminent.

B&S, it is more likely to be tied in with this ( https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-58842567 ) and the issues that the Western Isles have with exporting wind energy. In the absence of a connector to the mainland, conversion to Hydrogen is an attractive prospect. I guess that they hope that Extreme E will advertise the potential.

After Extreme E on Harris, they should drop the AFC unit off with the MOD on St Kilda, to replace the diesel generator there and really test long-term remote operation!

Stokey, my comment was tongue in cheek. I agree that I certainly wouldn't buy in to a company that had a dysfunctional board and I am not looking to add to my TPG holding at present.

But neither am I willing to sell at current prices. The component parts of TPG are valuable (I still reckon a realistic break-up value is 9p per share), and I really don't see the share price dropping below about 4.4p as a minimum (apart, perhaps, from during temporary doom-laden dips). So I see the down-side risk as being much smaller than the up-side potential and willing to hold on that basis.

Quite agree, looks like a strategy to trash TPG in the hopes of acquiring it all on the cheap. But I fully expect that the results of an AGM will be the same as the last one, with the SAG camp coming out as the winners.

So if Thyssenkrupp's 4GW of electrolysers at Neom will produce 650 tonnes of H2 a day...can we work out what total capacity of fuel cells are likely to be needed to use all that hydrogen?

While I'm sure the Hydrogen development at Whitelee will eventually go ahead, the developers and their agents are to blame for any delays in Planning. They seem to have assumed that it would be viewed simply as an extension to the existing windfarm and didn't engage with the local community. In practice, the solar array is a completely new southward development covering a big new area of peat moor and forest (about 1.5km x 0.8km) and requiring a whole new site access and internal roads. The Hydrogen plant is a side-issue and if it had been located at the main site, feeding off the windfarm, there would almost certainly have been no objections. It's a rookie mistake from companies that really should have known better.

Klunk, the Ricardo remit seems to be both a Hydrogen fuelled ICE engine and a fuel cell stack for auxiliary power.

Boyobach, yes, we need to appreciate that electrolysers (along with fuel cells and battery systems) are fast becoming readily available inputs and that choice of supplier will probably start to be as much about price/availability as it is the about the technical specifications. But all the more reason that, as investors, we will look for clues to see if the technology that we have backed is also capable of holding its own in the commercial world.

Posset, I was also trying to work that out. It's not clear from their website whose electrolyser they are using. I'm pretty sure they don't make their own, but the whole website is built on what they can deliver, not how they do it.

I've not seen how these are being powered for the period of their stay, but I'd be surprised if there is a sufficient shore-side power at KGV dock to supply to allow them to switch off their own generators. Hmmm... Well its very far from being a blank checque and its not on "anything except" but restricted only to heat pump technology. Personally, I am concerned when Government's pick a single technology rather than legislating for outcomes and encouraging innovation into the whole gamut of technologies that might meet these outcomes.

...more important is the fact that he is willing to do so at 53p per share.
