You're right Si_D, quite pessimistic :)
JW gave a very good interview I thought.
He's coming back to the islands on 19th, 20th and 21st March.
Focus on delivering nimble / flexible service for both freight and ferry service.
Freight service going well with Julian leading. H&W Samson? now being readied at Appledore for freight and Julian away this weekend looking at other freight vessels.
Ferry service - focus on nimble/flexible service, quick half hour ferry service turn round. Planning to start 1st May, bookings can be made from next week, money not taken until closer to departure date. May link with a third port (unnamed). Expects timetable will be tweaked over time. Focus on meeting customer needs will be key and building the relationship.
Can't speaking highly enough of the support at the harbours.
Aremiti 5 is 1 of 5 boats that were under consideration. Now down to options on 2/3 boats where engaging with sellers to finalise agreement. ( Mentioned need for compliance with UK regs etc )
From memory, organisation appointed to manage aspects of service for H&W.
Ferry expected in yard in March currently.
Lots happening in the background, they appreciate they are operating to a tight timetable. Low key approach to putting in place what they want to do.
Highlighted the islands have lost £48m worth of funding. Expects customers to fall into 3 camps, die hard IOSSC customers, H&W customers and others who would use both companies services. Building the customer relationship / experience will be how they will aim to grow the business.
Won't be all singing / all dancing on day one. Looking to grow the business over time and adapt where necessary.
Sure I've missed other relevant points and hopefully haven't misrepresented JW here but hopefully gives a flavour.
