How very odd Hebridean9 that someone who has posted that in the past they have worked at the Stublach gas cavern facility in Cheshire ( I'm assuming for Storengy ) has has such a pessimistic outlook especially after the favourable IM judgement this week.

I take comfort that Storengy remain a key player in the gas storage business in the UK and Europe and actively pursue development of storage facilities and recently I believe have been in conversations with DESNZ about hydrogen storage. I expect Storengy will be taking a very keen interest in the IM development.

I expect key players in the UK / Ireland gas industry to be sitting up and taking note of the Islandmagee news and would not be surprised if it was an agenda item at boardroom meetings looking to expand asset portfolios to further participate in energy markets ( gas, hydrogen and electricity). IM can be a nationally / internationally significant asset.

Aldbrough Hydrogen Storage is a collaboration between Equinor and SSE Thermal proposing to store low-carbon hydrogen within underground salt caverns next to the existing Aldbrough Gas Storage facility on the East Yorkshire coast. It is intended be operational by the end of the decade, with enough initial expected capacity to power over 860 hydrogen buses a year.

Useful to understand the detail of what they are doing on this space. Another potential partner for Islandmagee : )

I was reading about that Bubble and see that JW has already commented "Fantastic work Dr Charles Woodburn" (he's Group CEO of BAE Systems)

If lack of gas storage capacity costs UK £1.7bn over 2 years, you would expect this to be a good case to now fast track Islandmagee to deliver an asset with a 40 year lifespan to support energy transition and lower costs for the end consumer. Should be factored in when considering value of Islandmagee.
