RE: An American view of masks1 Dec 2020 20:09
PP, appreciate your view, and i was of a similar view until i spoke to a few people within the NHS. They've created covid task forces that manage all purchasing and distribution of PPE, within these sits infectious disease teams - sorry to bore you but want to add context.
I have had on or two conversations with PPE procurement managers that sit outside of the infectious disease teams and their two biggest concerns are comfort and cost - although they like the antiviral layer don't see it as a deal breaker as the teams are so use to chucking masks out and swapping and changing.
Then i had a conversation with a member of the infectious disease team - sole purpose is to ensure the safety of the hospital environment & reduce the impact of Corona and any other infectious disease. This person loved the USP and it is extremely powerful to them as it allows them to tick two safety protocols, one with the patients & the environment.. more importantly the Drs & nurses.
So i do agree to certain people it is just another disposable mask, but as with any product.. market it to the right individual and they will champion it and ensure it is purchased.
