RE: Quiet4 Oct 2018 21:19
I found the comments in recent Skype interview interesting. NB pretty much said, H1 geocurve teams were occupied with Thames contract (and I wondered if the contract was a lot of work disproportionate to margins, but accepted given it had been in pipeline (it’s hinted at in previous results) was important for our relationship with CH2M/Jacobs ie of strategic value, the Leica kit raised their profile amongst other big cos and was the maiden venture with new kit, so gave the team valuable experience).
Going forwards, the kit is available for other jobs, work force is freed up, Q3 and Q4 are busier than first half, so I expect bigger numbers for this second half of year, and certainly better margins on each job. (Again referring to NB previous interview comment about “not” taking on every job offered and discipline here)
Several big clients were announced via twitter in June-July time, and I reckon they were approached, jobs taken on, after our work on Thames had wound down. Going forwards, we won’t chase huge contracts merely because they are huge numbers, rather the margin and amount of work involved matters more, that’s my impression. Overall, I reckon smaller jobs have better margins, and allow teams to remain fluid. All just my musings. Happy to debate this, just my humble opinions....DYOR. Good luck all
