One of the best indicators for me of the promise shown by Tyratech is the large holdings of some big investment companies. How many other AIM shares have an investment company with a �6 billion portfolio (Octopus Investments) holding a 20% stake? There must be some reasoning behind their confidence.

Good post on Tuesday re bio-food industry (sorry, only just seen it). Special yeasts are required in the production of edible bioethanol, CNELs main product. Just by way of coincidence, the company they wantrd to take over in 2011 was just such a yeast specialist.

Am I imagining it, or hasn't it been very recently updated? Another sign of an ambitious board.

It seems a long time back now, but longtermers will remember that in 2011 the board were planning a reverse take over of a major supplier of bioethanol raw materials in China. Deal fell through in the end, but wonder if similar plans afoot?

I'm inclined to agree. Humour is a luxury the big players can afford in their A&M. Certainly good to see them keeping the costs down.

Costello, because a a complex technical product like this has high development costs. It's a niche market so it needs to be marketed directly to potential specialist customers, which takes time. Anyone who does any detailed research into this business will realise it is going to - not maybe - eventually make some big profits because it saves money for hospitals and private surgeries. I see them as an investment for the future and the falling price means I can buy more at this price and average down.

I did, but you said it yourself, it's speculation. Even the CEO points out in the results that he can't guarantee a strike with the new well. I wasn't having a go at PXOG in particular, most of the energy stocks on AIM are speculative. Just pointing out that here we have a company with profit in the bank, revenue increased by over 50%, change in government policy in China guaranteed to boost bio ethanol production and CNEL already one of biggest producers of bioethanol in China. So the performance of the two sps made no sense to me.

The market is a funny beast. Look at Prospex oil - up 17% today, 80 million shares traded, yet from what I can gather all they have done is spent £1.6 million this year drilling for oil in a dry well. Unless someone can put me straight on that? I think we may see the start of fireworks tomorrow.

Good call on Sunday, Ivy/Luke. I keep rereading the paragraph in the Interim Results RNS where Jose Barella says (With regards to the strategic review) “We continue to work on our strategic review. Our focus remains to unlock the full value of the business for shareholders. The process is progressing well and we intend to provide a full update to the market once we have reached concrete conclusions as to the best outcome for all our shareholders.” Very cryptic, but surely there's a hint there that they WILL be providing another market update - and sooner rather than later?

and the great thing about being invested in CNEL is they're based in China. So not the biggest bio-ethanol construction company in the world, but already one foot in the door.

Great link, Preemo. A lot of people assume the big worry about climate change is changes in sea level and weather patterns. It is, but for China and India, in particular, the issue is about water supply. Hotter climates in continental areas will mean less less rainfall and water supply is the one resource that two countries with huge - and growing - populations, can't afford to lose. Even though China has 10th biggest oil reserves in the world.

The poultry market is particularly massive and we've just had the fipronil scare which means the big players are going to be looking at alternatives right now.
