Walp - it doesn’t sound like you ARE really disagreeing with me. And even if you were, you’d be perfectly entitled to do so!
Whilst funds do offer a degree of diversification, SMT is VERY geographically concentrated & fairly sector-constrained. Most professional financial advisers recommend a mix of shares, bonds & rainy day savings in any portfolio.
Personally I’ve never bothered with bonds. But I do think - whatever your age, wealth & investment timeframe - putting everything into a single fund is unwise. And personally, I’d still find it very concerning as a strategy. Better than bunging it all on black. But still highly risky.
But others are, of course, always welcome to disagree. Or simply to ignore my posts altogether!
