To my mind, there’s a degree of correlation between the tech & healthcare sectors.

So I don’t see Moderna’s fortunes being dependent on any sector rotation from technology.

Still very volatile, with a near 5% fall this morning for no immediately obvious reason.

If it goes below £4, I'll be adding. Again.

Worth remembering how many chunky Director share buys went through within the last 6 months. And nothing much has changed since then.

Sure, April's National Living Wage increase may have an impact. But as I've said before, it's not like H&T - as market leader - has no pricing power. So I believe they'll simply adjust their retail prices & lending rates to counterbalance this. Yes, dividends may rise a little more slowly than previously thought, But it remains a decent yield (&, I believe, a lowly P/E rating) for a tightly managed, conservatively run & consistently profitable business.

Only time will tell whether now’s a good time to add / buy back into SMT. I’ve done some averaging down here over the years. I think if you follow a fund closely, it is possible to sense when it might be slightly overbought/sold. You’re very unlikely to get the timing spot on. But - with a fair wind - there can still be a big enough window to make something out of it. That’s been my experience with SMT anyway.

So I’d never say SMT is a tuck-away-&-forget-for-years type of investment. But I do think any core holding is best viewed as a reasonably long term commitment.

Lordmakealot - Assumes you catch the bottom though. And not all stocks are down by anything like the amount TEK has dropped.

No idea how Guident will fund its commercial development, but hopefully via a JV with a major motor manufacturer, rather than shaking the can & diluting existing investors. Again..

MrAmericano - I think Misty would tell you it’s only de-risking if you don’t buy back in at a higher price than the one you exited at a few months earlier.

Whilst your S&P 500 fund may have made up some/all of the money lost by exiting SMT when you did, if you buy back in now you’re taking on the previous risk all over again. And potentially from a higher base cost.

Best of luck anyhow. But my advice would be to reinvest in SMT only if you intend sticking with the majority of your holding there for some time (i.e. several years rather than months).

FriedmanSowell - spot on. After all, markets normally only get bored with a company when it repeatedly fails to meet its targets & timescales.

I, however, get bored with a certain sleeping-under-the-arches share pundit the moment he opens his mouth.

Without any revenue or profit indicator, it’s impossible to know how significant Microsalt’s “commercial” order is.

The usual cheerleaders suggest it’s a game changer. TEK’s continuously languishing share price seems to indicate otherwise.

Relative position of holdings may reflect that particular share’s current price weakness/strength. Rather than SMT having added or reduced their stake in it.

Anyone know which is chiefly responsible for MRNA’s fall in the rankings?

The market’s a lot less bored with Opti than any sane punter is with Lose-i-frith.

Agricore - from the 22 Dec RNS, I can’t see any mention of order size from Microsalt’s two Fortune 500 companies. Since it hasn’t improved TEK’s share price one jot, presumably investors reckon they’re small trial sizes only and are still saying “show me the money”.

This BELL update suggests they'll be flogging off stock using the old sieve design on the cheap:

"With the release of the new sieve design, the Company will divest the materials held in inventory relating to the older design which will add to our cash resources."

Whilst that should help with cashflow, it's not going to do much for their short term margin. Though they say the new design will (eventually) lead to a significant margin improvement.

Again, whilst sounding commercially sensible, this part of today's BELL RNS doesn't inspire confidence they've much cash headroom right now:

"As a consequence of the delays, the Company has held back on marketing and advertising spend to preserve cash resources and also reduce operating costs in the period."

Especially as posting of the TMT acquisition documents has now been further delayed, with no reason given.

Oh the one mentioned in today's RNS:

"Tekcapital remains committed to distributing special dividends to shareholders at the appropriate time."

Well, as I've been saying for over a year now, the appropriate time - Clifford - was AT IPO stage, when there was still some froth & optimism in the launch prices.

Not AFTER the event, when - entirely predictably - every holding has since crashed & burned.

Oh - and here's my Mystic Meg predicition for 2024. Microsalt will be NO DIFFERENT. Right now, Tek's like watching a slo-mo car crash, with Clifford at the wheel wearing a blindfold.

Some at prices much higher than today's. Others, over the past year, when the price was at the low £6 to low £7 mark.

Here's hoping Cliff hasn't sold us a complete turkey & we all end up stuffed. Fingers crossed that the Ghost of Christmas Future is better than the Present. There's certainly not much festive cheer in the share price right now.

Tim McDim's comments in today's RNS surely mark the death knell for IMM:

"we have a high level of confidence of the success of this study"

Anything Tim's highly confident in normally ends in tears.
