No sooner was the ink dry on my post than the thought occurred to me that although my comment may be true about the RAF in the Second World War, it is not so clearly correct when you consider the First World War because British Infantry losses were so much greater in the First than in the Second War.

I don't see the entire company - with possibly 10 bboe - being sold cheaply, simply because I don't see major shareholders accepting a low offer.

If they can't get a reasonable price for other assets / prospects, they can develop them as they are developing Lancaster, and then sell them.

More farmouts are also possible.

If Lancaster is worth 75 p per share, then other prospects could be worth similar amounts.

I don't see how 200 p for the whole company could be a high price, unless the oil price collapses.

At today's exchange rate, that equates to about 88 p per share.

Let's not forget that there are other prospects, i.e. deeper Barryroe, Dunquin South, Newgrange and Avalon, none of which seemed to play a part in Petronas' calculations.

There may have been plenty of people who were saying TU shares represented good value at 1800 p, but now we hear that the sky is falling and that if you buy at 800 p, you're guaranteed to make a loss.

Taking a long - term view, if profits continue to rise, even if only by small margins, and the dividend remains stable, the share price is sure to recover.

I intend to buy more for 700 p, 600 p, 500 p and so on.

Not sure I will get the chance, though.

Someone mentioned this the other day.

I have spoken today with both Halifax and Hargreaves Lansdown and neither of them can help clients obtain the lower (15 percent) rate of taxation.

It seems the only way one could get it would be by asking for the stock to be removed from the nominee account and made into certificated stock, and then to approach TUI and sign the necessary form.

This obviously means some small expense and no more automatic reinvestment of dividends.

I would be interested to know what other shareholders think.

I'm not happy about paying the whopping German tax, especially as I bought some more shares today.

Does volume of 983647.4540 EUR really mean the number of shares?

If it means the total consideration, then that would make only about 100,000 shares.

If it's really 983,000 shares, then that's a big vote of confidence in the company.

Can someone please tell me where that director buy is recorded?

I've looked under recent trades as well as directors' purchases but haven't found it.

It seems the prospective P/E ratio is about 7.2, the prospective yield is 7.8 percent (although it seems a hefty amount of that is deducted as withholding tax) and the share price has fallen by 55 percent in nine months.

It looks like a good recovery stock.

If the Dow Jones crashes, it could become even cheaper.

If profits eventually increase, the share price is sure ultimately to test previous highs.

I was simply responding to MrCautious' remark about 'AIM dogs' and relating my own experience.

As far as I am aware, there is no prohibition on making comments on other companies nor on comparing SOU's share price performance with that of other companies.

If you cannot control your well - known impulse to make offensive comments, then I suggest you join an entirely different kind of forum, where your kind of behavior would be welcomed.

Actually I got out of VOG in the 40s, before it hit 80 and then collapsed.
