There is no law that prohibits alcohol being consumed at work.
Employers though need to make sure that by doing so it does not put an employee in danger .
Alcohol was available at HSBC as part of the restaurant offerings when I worked there- not forgetting of course 'leaving'' drinks, xmas functions etc.

The tv license is a requirement by law if you watch ANY live broadcast channel.
I or anyone else does not choose that the money raised goes to the BBC, but it does.

The official Covid 19 death count is 5.5 million - you could possibly triple that due to vast inaccuracies of figures in many countries, such as South Africa and India to name just 2.
I think you will find that it is a virus that is responsible for the deaths of many millions and counting.

I am very sympathetic to all families that have lost a member because of the Covid 19 pandemic.
At the same time I cannot see a connection between my healthy and not old brother dying from Covid 19 and the possibility of rules not being followed at any unconnected location.
There are many that have completely ignored all restrictions from day 1 and millions who are too selfish to have got themselves vaccinated.

A rise of about 0.75% in VAT earmarked for the BBC could replace the licence fee.

It is a requirement by law to have a licence if watching any channel as it's broadcast ,on any device - it is not a donation of choice.
It is a requirement by law also to pay all taxes that are due to be paid, but as with a tv licence some think it is optional.
