There will always be profit taking from purchases made at lower levels - they always find willing buyers.
I myself have sold 3 lots on the way up from the low and a 4th most likely at or a bit below the 60p level. These sales only represented a small part of my Lloyds holding - I am likely to be decreasing (up to a point) and possibly increasing my holding for most of the rest of my life.

I exited BDEV on 11/09/2017 at just over £6 (about a 40% capital return in less than a year)
I still hold BKG but don't really keep an eye on it, having bought at under £24 and selling some in the past at a bit below the current level to give an average on the remaining shares at £3.47.

Hopefully Lloyds can do well from property ownership with their Citra offering.

Hope your family have fully recovered now from Covid 19- still hundreds unfortunately dying from Omicron (majority unvaccinated).

Difference now with Lloyds is that past issues are now in the rear mirror - just hope C19 becomes less of a burden as time goes by, with hopefully just a yearly jab requirement at worst.

Also a buyback would be conducted over months during which time the price will fluctuate. A £1 Billion buyback would take about 6 months as an example.

The market determines the share price and the timing of it. Some on here a month ago were expecting the share price to fall below 40p.

Some of the recent rise as well as a rotation out of high tech may possibly be due to the possibility of a buyback - in other words purchase the shares before a buyback is officially announced.

The BOD currently have been given authority to purchase up to 7,088,402,568 shares.
The only decision to make is over what time period to do so.
There have been media reports on the size of a potential buyback announcement next month before .
A £1 Billion buyback certainly wouldn't be pushing the boat out - in fact would be a bit disappointing.

You have missed the point - J46 has simply returned the winter fuel allowance but has not been able to claim an extra amount via taxation.
Also for about the 6th time, I already donate thousands to charities each year (tax relief of 45%) , with Alzheimer's being one of the monthly beneficiaries.
I would appreciate it if I don't need to repeat yet again.

You shouldn't be advising people how they go about using money for investment.
Not everyone buys a stock to hold for the rest of their life.
I buy low sell higher to gradually reduce my stock price averages. I now hold a number of stocks for free or at a very low cost per share.
My 8 figure share portfolio valuation says that it works for me, having started with nothing at the age of 18, but helped by a high paying job for many years.

If this cycle goes to the levels of the last - the 80's when I was selling to give myself an average in the low 20's before starting to repurchase in the 60's, then I would 100% end up with a lot of shares for free.

I may be doing a London pub crawl next week or the week after.
I think it is a very sensible thing to do for a cask conditioned beer drinker, after most of the last 1 year and 10 months being in lockdown. Hundreds of pints to catch up on.

Waiting for a below 40p share price or the 44p gap for a further purchase has meant missing out for those investors waiting for such levels (just over 44p was available just a month ago)- hopefully they have enough stock already to satisfy them.

Yes there are plenty of investors purchasing at current levels, hence the 1p increase today to keep the momentum going.

This was after buying at about 11p before the consolidation - sold above purchase at 400p

continuing - now touched 55p

3 of my more recent additions to my portfolio are investment trusts which I haven't had for many years.
I used to invest in the leveraged investment trust warrants as well many years ago.
