As a shareholder I would like to know the full cost of an investment in X number of shares.

Lloyds will pay stamp duty when purchasing the shares from Morgan Stanley, which IS relevant - it is a cost.

Morgan Stanley are acting as the intermediary, to act as principal in buying the shares from shareholders, Lloyds then purchases the shares from Morgan Stanley.
