Rises from the Lloyds 2022 dividend level have been telegraphed based on policy and the fact that Lloyds is able to afford substantial buybacks for subsequent cancellation. The dividend policy would come before buyback expenditure.

Lloyds increased the dividend 20% from the 2022 level for 2023 and the expectations of the market are for further dividend increases to come.

The share price is currently lower than it was 2 years ago.

So it has not been the case of - ''Higher future dividend stream or yield, the more attractive the stock is, driving up the SP.''

So to recap today's attempts by HU (because he is desperate)

First of all he gave a nonsense response as to why the vodafone share price is so low, in response to my response to a post when I indicated that having an 11% yield has not stopped the price going to ever lower prices.

Then a second attempt when he was not happy with being dismissed, was for some reason diverted to the non payment of a ' direct line' dividend (desperate you see) . Once again I gave the difficulties that the business had faced, as being the reason for the non payment..

Then after the first two failed attempts he then had an issue with my giving facts as to why I was not frustrated with Lloyds in response to a post, and also had an issue with a response I made indicating that not only a low average price is possible with Lloyds it has also been possible with other stocks.

This culminated with the feeble last attempts of ''it is you that is suffering from a condition........Narcissistic personality disorder. ''

and the now normal ''W⚓''

It just goes to show the low levels he deteriorates to, when his attempts end with the same failure. I wonder what it will be next time.

if you had any kind of brain, you would come to the conclusion that most sensible people do not involve themselves with such nonsense that you are willing over an over and over to start.

I have said before on other occasions - that just tells me the number of numbskulls that continue to use/read this board, out of probably a couple of hundred. The cancellation process of shares which includes the required balance sheet changes is carried out asap and on the same day once Lloyds treasury receive details from UBS. There is no time frame whereby Lloyds hold the shares in treasury before cancellation.

The only conclusion is you are envious of other peoples investment successes.

As for my giving another 2 examples of having a low average or free shares elsewhere, that was also in response to a post saying that it is impossible to have such a low average with Lloyds.

I think you are confused in differentiating between responses giving details to make a point and posting details out of thin air for the sake of it.

I imagine Sufc would prefer the share price to be at least at his buying price but the income is unaltered in the meantime. Some people are more relaxed than the 'dogsht' and ' long suffering shareholder' etc etc brigade.

the market decides on the valuation of a business - the level of dividend does not determine a share price.

How would I know? - I am not about to look into the reasons in a business that i have no connection with -maybe the business isn't doing well enough to maintain a dividend.

Valuation of Vodafone has nothing to do with dividend cover.

Some companies, such as SHELL have in the past, borrowed money in order to maintain a dividend

If Lloyds committed a further £1 Billion to the current buyback for cancellation programme with half year results. At the current rate of purchases, up to a further £1 Billion could be accommodated to fit in with the programme end of year termination date.

Lloyds though have thus so far only committed to buyback programmes with the yearly results.
