The share price has been going up virtual every day since this years BB started.

The sole purpose of the BB is to reduce share equity.

The market determines the value of Lloyds on a daily basis.

I don't agree with that. It has come out of concern that there isn't enough interest in the London market by retail investors. The percentage ownership of LBG by retail investors has been falling every year since it was formed, and that is the situation with the market as a whole.

You have to start somewhere. It will of course only be of benefit to those who fully use the current £20,000 limit and who wish to take advantage of the extra £5,000 separate tax free investment limit available .

Interest in the London market needs to increase by both retail and institutions,to get to more realistic valuation levels when compared with other market valuations, in order for businesses to be happy with an IPO on the London market .

it would make no difference to UK stock valuations if a £25,000 ISA limit was given ONLY for UK stocks. The market determines valuations driven mainly by non retail investors who own getting on for 90% of the market.

if an investor wants to invest an extra £5,000 tax free then it HAS to be British stocks. So investing £25,000 instead of £20,000 is the same?

It won't make a difference on valuations - the market determines valuations not the amount that a retail investor is able to hold in them, but it does mean an extra £5,000 investment with no dividend or capital gains taxes.

Not really, if an investors preference is for Lloyds or other UK stocks,then they would be using the isa allowance for them.

It made no difference to my reply. It is the market that determines valuations. The aim is to encourage MORE British stock investments, which you are taking advantage of.

It would be silly to suggest that US stocks valuations are high because some individual UK retail investors are buying them.

so you have just confirmed that you will be investing more in British companies - that is the whole point of the new ISA.

What you mean is that because you do not invest outside the UK, you do not want others to be able to within an ISA.

I no longer invest in individual stocks outside of UK, since selling Apple and Amazon

So 25% of average daily volume over the previous 20 days could be 50 million for example, so in theory the buyback could be the only purchaser in a day with a 50 million share trading volume.

Not on a daily basis, but there is a rule about a maximum 25% of average daily volume over the previous X number of days (20 days?) ,and of course a halt would take place by the algo used by MS if price limits are exceeded on a trading day.

A silly thing to say - if people want to invest more than £20,000 per year with tax free share ISA benefits, then the ONLY option is with a £5,000 British ISA.

I am sure that there will be plenty of investors wanting the chance to invest an extra £5,000 without taxes

The buyback is in need of help from sub 50p sellers - it would be good to get another 4 Billion + shares bought this year

I wonder how the algo has been set up this year - if halt to buying occurs at prices greater than 5% of the average market price over the preceding 20 trading days for example, we must be close to that, but we don't know, it could be 10%.
