''If Hunt were serious about juicing up the UK stockmarket, he'd signal the abolishment of the pernicious dividend tax, the abolishment of uncompetitive stamp duty''
there is no tax on dividends held within an isa. Not many retail investors are able to fully utilise the available £20,000 isa limit each year, let alone additional amounts. Those paying dividend tax will be those who can afford to do so with only 8.75% to pay for basic rate tax payers. Stamp duty is not a game changer when it comes to equity investments.
''That lot would take the FTSE100 to 20,000 by 2030.''

'' Don't be surprised if most people just buy a US S&P500 ETF listed in London!''
BRITISH ISA
''What's more, the FTSE100 has barely moved today on the UK ISA news''
why should it?
