IMB reached a 7 year high

National Grid reached an all time high

Tesco well up

Lloyds walked down on not high volume

Was not enough available at the quoted selling price - ended up getting at an average price of 171p (my limit order)

Some at over 171p

Don't mind a further fall - I would buy back more of my recent sale

National Grid for me has been the ultimate defensive stock - not only with good and rising dividends over the years, but in addition for me, currently showing an over 80% capital appreciation over cost.

it is a defensive stock in as far as people will not go without services that Vodafone and the like provide - just a question of how much profits can be extracted from their customer base.

Like Tesco where the share price/business valuation was in the doldrums for a long period,but people will still need to eat.

many company financial metrics along with inflation,unemployment,interest/base/gilt/bond rates in countries or a region along with recessionary fears, geopolitics etc etc all go into the mix. from this mix with analyst, institutions and individuals giving different weighting to these, they then form an opinion as the what they think a forward valuation may be. this is why you get analyst giving different buy/sell recommendations with target prices.

these pulls in different directions go into what investors are willing to exchange shares at on a daily basis. it is the pricing of these **************s that give vodafone a valuation at any given time.

Some of those sold at about £9 in February for about 830p

The market valuation of Vodafone is arrived at by multiplying the number of shares in issue by the current price at which investors are prepared to exchange shares at .

I was prepared to make a sale on the 18th March at over 75.6p when the market was giving Vodafone a higher valuation than it is currently.

There is no borrowing to purchase, and the spend is matched by a reduction in liabilities on the balance sheet.

ffs, do you really think that returns to shareholders including dividends that shareholders may auto reinvest made with a working crystal ball.

As to your above - as I have said, the lower the price paid in buyback programmes the BETTER the investment has been - the market determines the valuation of Vodafone, so has no relationship to the returns made to shareholders by way of buybacks.

if I bought a car or anything else on finance I wouldn't expect the salesman to be my financial adviser . I would expect to be told the monthly/total costs, which I would accept or walk away from.

The only thing I have ever bought using credit was in the early years, a mortgage for property - I looked at the differing amounts being offered to me and total costs involved and made my choice - simple.
