UK retail sales recover

Retail sales have recovered since June, as penny pinching Brits seek to navigate worsening inflation, according to official figures today.

Sales, carried by food and online summer promotion deals, rose 0.3 per cent in July, following a drop of 0.2 per cent in June.

The figures were down over the past year, but remain 2.3 per cent above pre-pandemic levels, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found.

With the outlook for the UK economy it's looking like Lloyds will be stuck in the 40p trading price range for another year as you know this bank piggybacks the UK economy,
As for sweet spot my dividend payment is back to pre pandemic level with the extra earnings the banks making it would be good to receive a special payment

FTSE 100 seen opening slightly higher on Friday after gains in the US overnight although a survey showing consumer confidence in the UK at an all time low may hit sentiment.

Spread betting companies are calling the FTSE 100 up by around 7 points.

Aug 19 (Reuters) - British retail sales volumes rose 0.3% on the month in July, figures from the Office for National Statistics showed on Friday.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast sales would fall 0.2% as consumers felt the hit from soaring inflation.

Yes agree their figures don't make sense but the banks are in a better positioned to cope with the economic storm, if the country goes into a recession I'm hoping Lloyds don't withhold anymore dividend payments, as a investor I lost out big time when the bank cancelled the payment
