Scientists from Britain are creating a five-layer surgical mask with an "anti-virus" element. They use copper nanoparticles that kill COVID-19 on contact for seven hours.
A scientist at the University of Nottingham Trent developed the mask, and his company, a subsidiary of the university called Pharm2Farm, now manufactures them. Dr. Gareth Cave, a nanotechnology expert, says the first masks will go on sale later this month, and massively at the end of the year, the Dailymail writes.
In addition to being Type IIR certified, the gold standard for masks that ensures they filter out 99.98% of particles, the material kills 90% of coronavirus particles in less than an hour.
