Accsys Technologies Revenues Soar On Strong Accoya Wood Demand Wed, 12th Feb 2014 08:58 LONDON (Alliance News) - Accsys Technologies PLC saw its shares rise strongly Wednesday after it reported a 71% increase in revenues for the nine months to end-December, driven by growth in demand for its Accoya wood, and said it expects the growth trend to continue. In a statement, the producer and licenser of Accoya and Tricoya wood said revenues rose to EUR23 million in the period, up from EUR13.4 million a year earlier, as Accoya revenues rose to EUR20.2 million, from EUR11.6 million. It said it sold 89% more Accoya than a year earlier. "This increasing demand for Accoya continues to be seen across all regions and is attributable to both old and new distributors," it said. "We continue to see the benefit from our significant investment in sales and marketing over the last few years, for example the targeting of architectural audiences. In this respect we are pleased that the new calendar year has started very positively and we expect the trend of revenue growth to continue," it added. Accoya is wood that has been enhanced to be more long lasting and stable. It is an acetylated wood used for things like external building cladding. The treatment claims to make softwood as durable as hard wood. Its cash balance at the end of December stood at EUR14.4 million, down EUR2.5 million from the end of September. It said it expects to end its financial year with a cash balance of about EUR13 million as outflows largely caused by shipment timing partially reverses over the next few months. The company has already been involved in talks with major transport operators, who see the potential of the system. Its Newton electric truck was tested for 24 months in Germany, where much of the company’s product development is led by its subsidiary Motor Fuel Cell GmbH. Currently, Germany has 15 hydrogen fuelling stations in operation. Plans are in place, however, to increase that number to 100 by the end of 2018 and 400 by 2023. Proton chairman John Wall said: “We are very pleased to have finished the complex process of road approval for our HyRange system. “This allows the regular operation of the vehicle with our fuel cell range extender and significantly extends the operating range and on-board power of an electric truck. “It also opens the door for the operation of such vehicles in commercial applications and demonstrates to customers that HyRange is ready for regular operation.” Wall added that the HyRange system addressed the needs of bus and light duty vehicle manufacturers. “It’s a big step forward to go from prototype to the actual vehicle that’s been monitored for the required period of time and been proven safe and appropriate for commercial use,” he said. “We’re now in discussion with a number of potential customers who want to try this out in their existing fleet – those would be large fleet operators with lots of delivery vehicles. “But more importantly, the range extender can be put into buses. “At the moment, there is a huge amount of pressure, particularly in London, to move to cleaner transport. “The total cost for operators is either the same or less and the running costs of electric vehicles are much more predictable.” He added that London was not only the biggest market in the UK, but the market that led the rest of the world. China's LED Lighting Market to Reach $7.4 Billion in 2017 Tuesday, December 10, 2013 China's light-emitted diode (LED) lighting market will more than double to $7.4 billion in 2017 from $3.1 billion, as ongoing urbanization, local energy savings targets, and price cuts make the technology more appealing, according to Lux Research. Both residential and commercial segments will drive LED lighting to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24%, far outpacing the 5.6% CAGR for the broader lighting market. As a result, LED lighting will grow its share of the lighting market from 9.6% to 18%. "LED lighting has changed from expensive products outside the cost-conscious sweet-spot of Chinese buyers to value-adding solutions, gaining market share and realizing sustainable growth," said Jerrold Wang, Lux Research Associate and the lead author of the report titled, Running to the Light: Sizing China's LED Lighting Market.
