Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Agree. Getting some young blood to do the webinar could have really helped.
The confusing thing for me was working out who the webinar was aimed at. If it was, as Peter said, aimed at attracting new investment, then why was it so dry and so long? It lacked any vibrancy. You don't sell a Ferrari by banging on about how many radio station presets it has, you rev the engine. If it was aimed at existing holders, then why seemingly treat them with such disdain and disinterest. How much more refreshing if he'd just said I know you're disappointed, here's how we're going to fix it. Bring the shareholders in so they feel part of it.
Surely they did a run through? Surely the branding agency which worked on the TV ad, the website, the logo was involved? Why did no one say, this is deathly dull and opaque?
To be fair to them, there is a limit to how many vending machines Tony can fit in the back of his Volvo and driving them further than Banbury would (a) use up quite a bit of petrol and (b) mean that Tony might be late home for tea which would make Mrs Baldry very cross.
Begs the question, why do this interview when you have the webinar tomorrow?
All suggests that the webinar is little more than a vacuous PR exercise suggested by the branding agency at the same time as their advice about the TV ad, website and logo and readily bought into by PF and co.
I just find it bizarre that they’ve all shown up for this. If it was a picture of all three of them with some government official at an international airport then I’d understand. But Baldry flies under the radar most of the time and yet he dusts off the pink jacket and pops up for this. Why??
Anyway, I’m done on this topic.
From Planet Vending article:
"The downside of the national coverage Maskey is enjoying is this: it’s unlikely that Adam will be able convert solid sales enquiries for Maskey vending machines that emanate from beyond the boundaries of the M25.
For instance, right now, there’s significant interest in Maskey in Scotland; sales are going a begging: and if that doesn’t say ‘here’s an opportunity’ for existing vending operators, I don’t know what does…"
Wakey wakey Hamish. There's demand out there beyond Banbury.
This story actually makes me more nervous than pleased.
We sold (or gave) three to a shopping centre down the road and this was considered such a big deal that it was worth Baldry, Fowler AND Hamish all turning up (maybe they were driving the van and that is Baldry's 'delivery jacket'?). Here we all are dreaming of them getting a big contract with Network Rail or TFL and the reality is they haven't seemingly looked beyond the local Yellow Pages. Plus Hamish clearly has a different view of "full throttle" to me if they all have enough time on their hands for this day out.
Roll on 23 July and please god have something juicer to deliver than this on that day.
Very healthy.
Nothing negative in that for me but disappointing not to get more meat on the bones re tech sales.
Plus surprising how 'throw away' the line is about MSC at the bottom.
I guess we have to wait until 23 July...
...couple of chunky buys there.
I reckon next week will start to see a ramp up in news flow as we head towards the AGM.
Speaking to some friends last night, a number of them have been told that their offices in London are installing thermal scanners to scan everyone in and out of the building. One has to feel that the market here is huge and even if we can take a tiny slice it could mean some very chunky numbers for a little company like WSG. Should be like shooting fish a barrel for those sales agents.
Good weekend all. Here's hoping there's no day off for Peter or Hamish this weekend as they continue to work at "full throttle"
I think the podcast was quite measured from our 'hardworking and handsome' CEO.
Great to clear up the Tema contract situation.
I would not be surprised to see another million quid's worth of tech contracts land between now and the AGM. And once Sierra Leone reopens and we can crack on with meeting in KSA, then we'll be set to rocket.
yrabsmurruc, the muted reaction is no doubt a consequence of the history. We need some more flesh on the bones but it really feels like there is progress. The investor webinar on 23 June should be very interesting. Covid certainly presents an opportunity for a company like this to expand its reach and customer base (even for the most inept sales agent). I firmly believe we'll reach a tipping point and suddenly we'll be off to the races. 23 June might be it.
