Eurozone retails sales drop6 Mar 2023 10:10
Retail sales in the Eurozone and the European Union grew by 0.3% in January compared to the previous month, Eurostat said on Monday. According to analysts, retail trade in the euro area was expected to increase by 1%. On a yearly basis, retail sales were down 2.3% in the Eurozone in January, more than the forecast 1.9%, and they dropped 2.2% in the EU.
The euro area saw the retail trade of food, drinks and tobacco go up by 1.8% month-on-month, non-food products added 0.8%, while automotive fuels decreased 1.5%. Annually, the sales of food, drinks and tobacco lost 5%, non-food products were down 1%, while automotive fuels gained 5.4%.
