have come across another strategy based on price never travels in a straight line using fibonacci. its called ABCD where the trigger is based on C where there is a U turn in price i.e. swing trade using candlestick reversal patterns and fibonacci with target D. i use stephen bigalow's T line and stochastics for identifying reversals but they can be hit or miss.

I have done some back testing of ABCD but the target of D a fibonacci extention is not always hit

however what did happen was C is definitely the trigger to trade in the opposite direction. problem is to identify C.

i believe i may have found it in IG's triangular indicator in tandem with candlestick reversal pattern, t line, stochastics 12:3:3..

these are easy to identify in hindsight on an historical chart.
C is the difficult one in live trading.

i've added ig's triangle to identify the potential U turn or ideally my beloved V and inverted V shape .

if the bottom of the triangle placed on the last bull candle is breached go short or sell
if the base of an inverted triangle placed on the last bear candle is breached go long or close a short position
the size of the triangle will be up to you.
best applied after a run of at least 5 bullish or 5 bearish candles.
whether one takes a trade is also dependent on spread, risk and reward.

looks like it's on way back to 0.20p no buy until 0.40p breached.at the mo.

as you can see best suited to swing trades of at least 5 or more candles and not narrow pip ranges.

reminder 69% of their retail traders lose according to the broker saxo.ig say 79% of theirs i think and anthony krahl claims it is 90/95%.industry wide

since the new margin rules i believe those % tages will increase not decrease.

it has made my trading more difficult. i got pom up to £12,400 but have suffered 2 major set backs taking the fund back to below the initial £10k.. the latest took it back to £8.8k from the £12.4k now back to £11,400. both times caught out by lack of discipline i.e. no stop loss but trading skills have rescued both situations.

There will always be a loser and Thursday's post was one.
started off well but then the bulls took over and took it to 1.1800 on Friday .price closed yesterday at 1.1750
