The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
Agreed Jerry. The thread was started by Paulb20 - one with an ongoing axe to grind; so can safely be ignored
Just had to change the subject title of the ill-thought out heading: " Is S Day about to Jump Ship".
The previous subject has had a good airing today but has now run its course and has no logical merit for all the discussions cited. Consign this heading to history for all our sakes.
schlemiel - agree 100%. Let's remind ourselves what the Newcrest job advert said about Havieron:
"Challenge yourself with us:
Establish the Havieron Project, which is located 50km east of Telfer, WA via the development of the Karlajartu Exploration decline.
Play a key role in the Havieron Project Team and it’s success with both internal and external stakeholders, contractors in order to safely and efficiently deliver the exploration decline to meet the requirements of the Havieron business plan
Are you ready to lead from the front, with the ability to inspire those around you to strive for excellence in everything they do?
Please read on...
Operations near and far:
The Havieron Project has enjoyed exploration success over the past year and is rapidly approaching the delivery of an initial resource. The Havieron Project is the primary target of the Newcrest-operated earn-in with Greatland Gold and forms a key driver of Newcrest’s growth strategy. The Project is located in the Paterson Province, Western Australia, approximately 50km east of Newcrest’s 100%-owned Telfer mine."

Hi Paddy. I agree. SD has recently committed to stay for 4 years as part of bringing in the new players.
I take all pepper's posts with a pinch of salt!
Mushy - good to see you back with your usual zest after a 3 month sabbatical. Fully revitalised, apart from the cramp, I hope.
Yellowstuff - good to see you here as well. Another GGP veteran!
JC - we saw this too at GGP in the early days with HAD5 drill results and SP barely moved for ages. And then rocket mode!
When you take into account the strength of the US dollar against (1) the pound (8%) and (2) the aussie dollar (5%), over the last year, the price of gold is actually working quite nicely in our favour at the moment.
14.25 SeriouslySkint - "Lets see what your excuse is for this one".
Before you start throwing insults about might I suggest you get your own punctuation house in order first lol!
Market cap £1.8 billion with net cash c. £0.9 billion. So net cash of c £6.60 / share. The market is more or less assuming there's less than 1 year's visibility of earnings. This is crazy.
Yesterday's drop may have had a lot to do with the cautious, measured and honest statement from the board. All the negatives were fully aired. And then they pulled a rabbit out of the hat with earnings of 125 rand a share. Almost apologetically saying we know we've made a shed load of money out of rising fuel costs but there's still loads to come.
TGA have cash of 19.8 billion ZAR and are taking a hit of just 1 billion ZAR iro the closure. That is easily accommodated so why alliance news should major on it is very poor reporting.
Earnings per share of 125 rand = c.£5.95 for a PE of 2.4.
Incredibly cheap particularly when you consider all the disruptions this year.
T-REXBaz - you sound like a metal guru. Please keep up the positivity and we could soon be riding the white swan that lays the golden egg. Oops sorry couldn't resist.
Meanwhile, back at the coal face (well, similar) I see gold futures, February 2023 contract are up 50 points at $1,811/oz.
Good day so far - maybe, just maybe, things are starting to turn in GGP's favour.

SD: "we are putting out an updated resource in early 2023 and you should already be expecting that to be really positive".
Fantastic news and no surprise given the awesome drilling results in 2022. Another drilling update expected a week today by my calculations (6 weeks since the last one).
Nice bit of business by the Greatland team. These tenements are not duds but GGP have flagged up for some time that they wanted to concentrate on their WA assets. This is expected to give GGP a good income stream well into the future - they know what's there so well done GGP.
FIRETOWER
The Firetower project is located in central north Tasmania and covers an area of 62 square kilometres with established nearby infrastructure. The project lies in the eastern parts of the highly mineralised Mt Read volcanic rocks which host major polymetallic (zinc, lead, gold) deposits such as Hellyer and Roseberry, and copper deposits such as Mt Lyell, and the Henty Gold Mine which has produced over 1.25m oz since 1996.
The project consists of the Firetower, Firetower West and Firetower East prospects:
Firetower prospect: significant gold mineralisation from surface up to 30g/t.
Firetower West: a mineralised system with copper up to 1.34% and silver up to 2.6g/t.
Firetower East: potential for a VHMS system with initial drilling intersecting zinc, gold and silver.
WARRENTINNA
The Warrentinna project is located in north-east Tasmania and covers an area of approximately 37 square kilometres. The project hosts several known gold occurrences, including Derby North and Golden Mara where we have intersected significant levels of gold mineralisation, some over 50g/t.
Warrentinna’s host rocks are equivalent to those found in the goldfields in Victoria, south-eastern Australia, which to date have produced over 50million oz of gold. The tenement encompasses two historic gold fields, Forester and Warrentinna.

Damo - very funny; nice to see some humour back on this board!
