Very happy with today's AGM. For genuine holders, the gradual transition and partial asset sale is progressing. Anytime this year for a partial asset sale is acceptable in my eyes, and I'll still be keeping all my holding. Very confident with the team that has been built.

I'd be surprised if anything fundamental comes out of the AGM. That's not to say I'm not happy with my investment. Think peeps have just pinned their hopeful badges to something as a comforter. News will come when it's ready and not before.

I find that hard to comprehend. You're saying a third of all insect life is wiped out in Gemany due to wind turbines. That must mean nearly 100% of insect life passes through the rotating blades!!! For a start between two and five trillion insects fly over the south of England each year, so your total figure seems a bit light. Then take into account the amount of insects that do not fly, or only fly at extremely low altitudes.
It is well known that the quantity of flying insects has been decimated in the last twenty to thirty years, but the decline does not accurately correlate with the increase in turbines, in fact the decline started well before the big uptake of wind turbines.

Just like most things in life, any choice is a compromise. The figures you quote need contextualising. What percentage of air space do you think wind turbines occupy in Germany, and what percentage of the total insect population is killed? Any stance can be argued for or against. Unfortunately every man and their dog has an agenda to support.

Sadly there was a kneejerk reaction to the Fukushima accident, which was totally avoidable.
Unfortunately fusion is still a way off.

Are you aware of the huge experiment on one of the Dutch polders, with regards to rewilding? It has government backing. It's now being used as a model for more environmentally friendly farming techniques around the world. There's still meat production, but an encouragement for less intensified production and a recognition that too much meat is consumed. Therefore, better quality and less quantity. Agriculture needs to have a more symbiotic relationship with the environment it sits within.

I'm not willing to take the risk. Can you provide a link that gives a detailed picture of the mechanisms at work and the projected short term heat fluxes from these mechanisms. I can't refute something, without reading the proposition :-)
I've been aware of climate change since the early 90s', and much of my academic work involved an appreciation of the mechanisms involved. It was only through the "black box of tricks" used by Prof James Lovelock, that an appreciation of Ozone depletion was eventually accepted, and acted upon by world powers. Climatic perturbations are a natural phenomena, however that does not preclude the significant and rapid warming due to anthropogenic mechanisms. The two are not mutually exclusive..

We could still ensure that the UK increases it's biodiversity and increases it's resilience towards increasing temperatures. Planting upland areas will decrease peak flood events. Vegetation cover decreases heating of the land. Moving away from vast monocultures will increase climate resilience. Reducing pollution and using the land sustainably will increase productivity in the long term. I could go on and on :-) We don't need any other country to come on board to achieve that.

Amusing that anyone would blame rampers or derampers. If your "trade" or "investment" isn't performing how you wished, there's only one place to look to learn how to do better next time! If you don't look there, you liable to carry on repeating the same mistakes over and over.

Just got back from London, after a rather intensive weekend seminar. Was hard to find a decent room for under £260 a night, so took the motorhome up to Abbey Wood and hopped on the Elizabeth line each morning. Over three nights made a saving of over £500 :-). Not to be sniffed at, even though I'm a long term holder and significantly up. ;-)
Had planned to attend in person, but now doing the online thingy with a group of shareholders who live local, having a nice breakfast to break up the boredom of watching the admin part.

I also saw Brian Cox on tour. The one thing that resonated with me was when he spoke about the chance of finding alien life being so improbable, primarily based upon the minute time window we exist in, in relation to the history of the Universe.
