Funnily enough I'm going through that with my late mothers estate which as executor to her estate I found to my horror that she'd taken out a unbeknownst to me mortgage on her second home where all my late sisters layabouts live for nothing.. However my mother left this house to my sister in will which was made before my sister died two years ago.. So Her four useless lazy offspring will inherit that house. But there is a 30k mortgage taken out on it and neither of that lot work so I'll doubt they'll be able to obtain a mortgage. So to my point: they may in law own the home but if they cannot raise a mortgage than the Bank of Scotland will force the sale and get their money back that way as the 30k is part of a house valued at 380-400 k
