As you highlighted, it is night and day between a net profit of 0.5bn our old figure, and 1.78bn based on current sale price of spod.
It will also be night and day between what a JV would have cost on the old figures and the current and predicted spod prices.
JVs and acquisitions are based on multiples of income.
As you point out the rise in spod price is straight onto the bottom line, tripling our income.
A JV is going to cost a lot of money. Even if we retain a high percentage of the ongoing income I still cannot see any deal less than £200m, the more ongoing income we give up the higher the one off payment.
This is my opinion re JV only.
