No, a state pension is a benefit, as statutorily framed under The Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992. The actual definition is "contributory social security benefit'. Check out Section 20 for more details. HMRC count it as a 'taxable state benefit.' And it's the largest and most costly benefit, costing £200bn a year off the top of my head.
So, that's just a fact. Where do you get your details from regarding that working age benefits result in 'widespread abuse of the system and shortage of labour' and then some sort of doom loop of unwanted immigration?
Its all very well calling people leeches, but by your rational that includes OAPS who are responsible for receiving 50% of benefits payments, as determined by law. It sounds like you have no intellectual argument or real evidence to back it up, but thats cool, we all have our prejudices and blind spots. And at least you're right to apologise.
