No, a state pension is a benefit, as statutorily framed under The Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992. The actual definition is "contributory social security benefit'. Check out Section 20 for more details. HMRC count it as a 'taxable state benefit.' And it's the largest and most costly benefit, costing £200bn a year off the top of my head.

So, that's just a fact. Where do you get your details from regarding that working age benefits result in 'widespread abuse of the system and shortage of labour' and then some sort of doom loop of unwanted immigration?

Its all very well calling people leeches, but by your rational that includes OAPS who are responsible for receiving 50% of benefits payments, as determined by law. It sounds like you have no intellectual argument or real evidence to back it up, but thats cool, we all have our prejudices and blind spots. And at least you're right to apologise.

Simple indeed. And that includes state pensions in your quest I'd assume? What is the difference between removing all benefits for working age people and removing benefits for OAPS who may (or may not) have worked in the past but haven't provided enough for themselves and now also have to rely on the state?

Yep, after the last push up to 90p when I didn,t take any off i thought id better trim a bit at the next push. Pay some bills. Im not sure about this 53p placement though. I don't know much about these junior oil AIM stocks, so i guess i'm trying to find out if anyone has any experience of similar situations and what happened?

Have held these for nearly two years now. Found my radar because of some rumours (as yet unfounded) i heard about shell being interested. Average about 10p, took some off recently at 85p ish on the threat of a double top and thinking that the placement price of 53p might act as a magnet. Will be laddering bids down to there in case it happens. What do people think about the placement and dilution?
