How would it play out if Kelso opened a short position on THG with the mad man holding a significant % of their stock? Surely that’s a big conflict of interest and would put him in a sticky situation?

They’d probably make some profit on it too given the way THG (Matt Moulding) are being played like a fiddle 🎻. It looks completely defenceless here now and desperate times. Big wow a non exec snapping up 30k shares, the first buy all year and given the Peel hunt report we should all be lapping this up yet no one is.

At the end of the day ever since we had the #nothanks announcement to Apollo “valuing ingenuity being significantly more valuable than the whole group” set the tone here. Move the SP up otherwise come under scrutiny and be held accountable not the exchange, not the macro and not because you decided to rebrand and change a logo/colour scheme ffs.

I’m also not convinced they’ve actually completed the split of the divisions internally. Last year it was very vague of the cost of this ranging from £11m - £15m cost within weeks of analysts calls. Why hasn’t anything been exercised here to take advantage of that expense? Doesn’t add up

On the whole a positive update today and great to see double digit growth in Beauty. Slightly concerning the level of decline in Nutrition. As someone mentioned earlier today, it seems the decision to protect the consumer prices last year hasn’t really paid off.

What I really can’t quite put my finger on though is the reason for the delay of the update? Nothing here seemed to be time sensitive and no real standout wins that landed late. The last minute notice of results yesterday is just a big F U to everyone else outside the “circle”. The only thing missing today was an image of David Beckham celebrating his free kick against Greece tagged on the LinkedIn post with Mouldings face photoshopped on as the match winning hero of the day as we look at the SP sitting currently at the dizzy heights of 65p. 👏

Roll on to this hitting my B/E point after holding this for nearly 2 years as I will be running for the hills because with this guy at the helm we’re clearly just 95% unwanted noise.

Highly doubt this is getting taken out for 80p. The ceo posted 2 weeks ago on LinkedIn that at Peel Hunts 141p it's still 50% discount to peers and this "should" be sitting at 272p within 2 years

Agree to some extent to those points on Moulding, however he has to answer to the Institutional Investors and I'm sure they're not here to lose money indefinitely.

I didn't watch the webcast presentation but joined at time of qa and have to say it was poor. Monotonous, full of ramble and lacked conviction and energy in their answers. Not a great look no matter how short your T-shirt is.

“✔ THG & the strategy makes sense“

I think a lot of us would love to know what said strategy is. They’ve apparently spent c£15m separating divisions “US ready”, awaiting outcome standard premium listing reforms, mentioned open to partnerships on analyst calls. Oh and some Hokey Cokey decision making reappointing one of the directors.

So yeah what strategy are we talking about here? 😂

Suspect the April results are absolutely critical here now for him. My only worry is the timing of this report and how he’s reeling off all this jam tomorrow in his LinkedIn post where the SP “could” be at. The fact is just under 2 years on from turning down the 170p bid from Candy and King Street as undervaluing the business we sit here at 67p today. Understand the macro has been challenging during this period but still could have done a lot more to improve investor confidence and clarity on strategy.

We hold with bated breath until the value is realised.

Try not to fall for reading between the lines with these reactions to comments. Last year Matt had "👍" to a comment one one of his posts suggesting take private with middle east backed funds when the MBO rumours were rife. I hope it does materialise though and all long term holders will finally be rewarded here

I’m not sure his ego will handle the AGM vote if we continue on this trajectory until then. Unfortunately for him you can’t delete and block votes

It's surely time for the elusive 'strategy' to be made clear to all now, it's confusing to all with this hokey cokey decision making around the Mcdonald reappointment.

MM is far too emotionally attached and the post today just reads like 'sour grapes'. He will be fully kicking his arms and legs screaming like a child when the time comes... tick tock.

Can someone explain what would happen in the scenario of Kelso shorting THG as a counter to him buying up their shares? Surely that would mean a conflict of interest as the CEO?

@Crafty I would expect it to cost considerably more for F1 sponsorship compared to sponsoring E series racing. IMO this is the move that really highlighted they’re putting this well and truly in the shop window… we await and see.

Was expecting a LinkedIn post from MM today but grateful it never arrived given the SP. Hopefully a sign there is a greater focus on more important things at the current time

Now we just await for the board to announce how they plan to realise the sotp value for shareholders…. tick tock.
