Oh dear CSDI, it really saddens me to read posts like this. What you've done is to virtually double the average of your remaining half (have you calculated it?) to a level that may not achieve for years to come, and halved your potential dividend income. I can never really understand why people are tempted to sell when the price drops. This is the time to buy, reduce your average, improve the dividend yield then when the sp recovers in a year, two years, 3 or more... that's the time to sell some. If you want less risk and/or don't want to commit to longer-term share ownership, can I suggest one of the healthcare REIT's, a solar energy fund or a tracker? You may lose less sleep that way. K

Like many of our best companies, prices are being driven down pushing them into the hands of American private equity. We'll have nothing left soon the way this is going. You might even wonder if the algo writers are on commission?

Today's magazine highlights 3 Top Takeover Picks: ITV; PSN and SOM. For PSN it suggests a potential approach from private equity, siting similar deals in the sector involving McCarthy & Stone, St. Modwen & Sigma amongst 8 "sizeable" takeovers in the last 2 years. Food for thought.

Shares Magazine has MTEC as a BUY in today's edition:
"Based on consensus data, Made Tech is expected to grow revenues by 60% and 55% this year and next, with EBITDA forecasts to more than double. That implies a 2024 price to earnings multiple of 5.5.
That tells us that Made Tech’s potential has slipped past the wider market, creating a huge opportunity for ordinary investors to earn outsized returns if the company continues to execute as it has been."

I've only put a small amount in here too Roofer, for the dividend. Would love to double-down now the sp has dropped below £1 but there are alarm bells ringing loudly in my ear.

Thanks adv11. I've not received the latest dividend in my HL account yet either. Hard to say whether the delay is with the brokerage system or TMIP dealing with the currency conversion. Either way, I'm sure it'll be along soon.

It certainly is adv11. TMIP received a dividend from Grindrod equivalent to 16% last year so if this deal goes through it should boost the earnings potential here quite a bit, even before possible economies of scale. Here's hoping anyway.
I've recently bought some TGA but it doesn't meet your quarterly-dividend criteria. They're a South African coal miner, completely off the radar until the Russians sent the price of coal into orbit. They're paying an INTERIM dividend of 6,000 SA cents (about £3) on 10th October (XD 22nd September). Final dividend tbc but the price of coal has gone up significantly since the interim was declared. They are trading either side of £17 today. The big boys won't touch them (like DEC) because of their ESG commitments. The forward price for coal is now pushed out as far as 2027 apparently so will hopefully have had my money back in dividends by then. Relatively small investment for me, like all these higher-risk shares. As always, this is NOT a tip & I know it doesn't meet your criteria anyway, just letting you know what I've been up to recently. Hope all is well, Mrs K is slowly getting back to normal & even started driving again now which is great. K

I guess it's not too much of a surprise to see TMIP progressing towards a full offer for Grindrod. The speed with which it is happening makes me wonder whether this has been part of the plan since before IPO. Either way, the guys at TMIP are incredibly knowledgeable about the shipping industry and if they think it's a good deal for shareholders they'll have my full support. The market seems to approve too, for now at least. Exciting times ahead for holders here IMV. If this progresses, I wonder if TMIP will want to convert the required debt element to new shares in the company at some point? Might be worth keeping some cash handy in case?

Dusty, I'm not sure if you're actually negative about the prospects here or just playing devil's advocate to test the water? Either way, I like a healthy debate, helps with my own decision-making.
FWIW, my view is that MTEC is starting to look quite interesting. Some chunky buys, which may have been timed ahead of the results announcement early next month, so reason enough for some optimism. It wouldn't surprise me if we saw 40p or a little more ahead of results day. Let's see, hopefully better times ahead for holders here. K

Shares Magazine are not trying to suck anyone in. Their reputation (and therefore their income) depends on them getting more calls right than wrong, as they consistently have. Whether they've got this one right, time will tell. Results day will give us an indication of how things are going, and of course the all-important dividend news. I'm hoping to add a few before then.

Nothing we didn't already know. Interesting they've stuck their neck out at this stage though, and chosen BDEV & VTY rather than, say, TW. or BKY. PSN in freefall again this afternoon though, perhaps Shares Magazine (AJ Bell) has gone a bit early?

The latest edition of Shares Magazine goes with the headline "Good time to buy housebuilders on the cheap". In the 6-page article within the mag it goes into some detail on the current situation facing the industry in the UK & stateside. It then picks out two shares it thinks investors should consider above all others - BDEV and VTY. Let's hope it will act as a catalyst for some improvement in the SP here.

avocet, I've already replied to your similar post on TW, but 6% interest at no risk?? How about the risk of lower rates, just like lower dividend payments? Or are you saying we'll be able to lock in to 6% interest rates in cash ISA's over 1 year/2 years/whatever term soon? I think not. I VERY MUCH think not. Whilst hoping that you are right of course lol.

Openeyes, see TGA. It's not impossible. In the interests of balance, I should point out that things certainly appear stacked against UK housebuilders currently. Interesting times, for sure.
