Hi Potnak - the risk of failure would be the same surely whether fast tracked or not, the study protocols won’t be relaxed. It just seems like a once in a lifetime opportunity that we will miss if we don’t get on with it!

Hi RMM - yes, but does not the Covid grant provide a wholly unique opportunity to effectively fast track the development of SDC1801 and really get it spotlighted, not just for Covid but all the other potential applications!

Assuming that a grant application can be completed before the current emergency has passed, with the intention of 'exploring the activity of SDC-1801 in COVID-19, where the aim would be to reduce the immune system over-reaction that is seen in the later phase of the infection', how do we think this would be progressed? Sareum don't have the capacity or resources to run their own trials so they would either have to be outsourced or conducted in partnership. Perhaps that's where the holdup lies although if we are to believe what we are told regarding being in constant discussions with potential partners this shouldn't be an issue. Something isn't stacking up here....there are literally thousands of Covid19 grants being awarded but nothing in Sareum's name, which given that we are told 'As a dual TYK2/JAK1 inhibitor, SDC-1801 could be more effective and/or better tolerated than these similar compounds in COVID-19' seems very odd.

Thoth2 - joking aside, would they not employ a specialist bid writer to do the leg work of a grant application. John did say on the last conference call that it was an onerous and time consuming process but 3 months?? There just seems to be no sense of urgency!

The AACR presentation which references SRA737 concludes:
"Collectively, our results provide a new therapeutic rationale for the clinical development of combination treatments of chemotherapeutic DNA-targeted agents with ATR/CHK1 inhibitors based on SLFN11 status."

Surely this warrants some high profile publicity from Sareum....a barrage of tweets at the very least!
