@Berm - on the Modi Trial Results i'd make two points.

one - given the speed with which Moditope is showing clinical benefit in the mice models (complete tumor removal in a few days), i would expect news from the trial very quickly *IF* the mouse models were reflected in humans.

two - if pharma are aware of the potential of Moditope (and we know from Project Blueprint and a few other sources that they are), then moving to the clinic may be the catalyst for them to take action. I think there may be a partnership deal of some description prior to the trial.

What niggles away at my confidence, is that Biontech have had access to Moditope for TCR for some time now, and haven't yet made a move, and Scancell have provided no update. If I've learnt anything about Scancell over the last X number of years, its that partnerships that are not productive tend to drift into obscurity, rather than being formally closed. That said, Scancell do still refer to Biontech on their lataest slides, so who knows..

@Daracula1 Given that Modi-1 is due to be in the clinic with the next 12 months, then I would say those odds are pretty high.

Given that we have had three pharma sign collaboration agreements on Avidimad in the last 12 months, i'd argue they already are showing interest.

Just to add more to this - I have always felt the BoD are facing a particular dilemma in this regard. A typical small scale biotech may expect to produce one or two potential products, and be happy to licence out early and cheaply, to transfer the risk to the big pharma. That way they get the upfront cash and the possibility of royalties down the line with very little if any risk themselves.

But the Scancell pipleline of platforms, with many potential products and targets really does rival an oncology department of most major pharma. To sell all that potential off cheaply ( by that i mean for low upfront money, rather than long term royalties), runs the risk of never realising that potential, both financially and clinically.

Someone more familiar with the specific history could add more detail, but I believe the Checkpoint Inhibitors sat on the shelves of pharma for quite sometime before the potential was realised.

What I am trying to say is, I can well see Scancell going for a partnership deal on Moditope or a licencing deal on Avidimab, but I don't think Prof Durrant will want to relinquish the entire Moditope platform into someone else's control, until it has at least had it's "wow moment" in the clinic.

It's no good asking me, I have believed a licensing deal is imminent for the last 5 years! ;-)

Joking aside, every step we take forward takes us closer to a possible deal. Each step that we take along the development path de-risks a pharma decision to invest, and increases the possible value of the deal.

a licensing deal with some upfront cash on any one of the platforms would be transformational. I agree that Scancell do not have the resources or capacity to take a product all the way to market themselves, but to be fair I don't think that was ever their ambition.

The "percentage increase" (which is what you asked for) is 900%. Your investment has increased by 9.

The value of the finished product is 10x, the original investment. But that is because you have added the increase to the original investment.

I'm afraid it is you who has fallen into the trap.

I think what you mean to ask was... "What is £10 as a percentage of £1".

"If you invest £1 and it increases in value to £10, what percentage increase have you made?"

@Ray, actually if you read the responses, Lindy didn't get her way. The contested wording remains.

The paper work of the negotiations following the original contesting of the text is in the public record. You can see the Scancell solicitor's arguments and the responses from the examiner. They have seemingly come to a conclusion, and the letter with the text of the application has again been submitted following those negotiations. This text has received "Notification of Intent to Grant". This effectively puts us back to where we were, only with amended text. I would be VERY surprised if Scancell, having concluded those negotiations, then didn't accept the final text again.

In other words.. it *should* just be a formality now.

Late last year, we noticed from the public record, and subsequently through an RNS that the European Moditope Patent had been "Intended for Grant".

However, what Scancell didn't RNS was the fact that they subsequently appear to have contested the wording of the granted text, and wanted re-reinstatement of some text that had been removed by the examiner. This resulted in another seven month round of negotiations with the examiner, which has finally concluded, with a second notification of intention to grant.

Its worth noting that in contesting the text, Scancell retained the right to "fall back" onto the previously granted application.

As to why Scancell decided to go back and amend their own application, I cannot say. Were 3rd parties involved? This was all done after the agreement with Biontech was in place.

Anyway, for those that though the formal granting of the application may have been catalyst for commercial action, then that granting is seemingly now going ahead.

To me, this was the glaring omission from the news report. Nottingham Uni already have a fund raiser, and it was never mentioned. They could have raised a couple of million quid off this publicity alone.

More business naivety I'm afraid.

Getting very frustrated with Scancell's inability to finish a project. I honestly thought that the addition of Martin Vulpes to the board would improve shareholder communication, but we seem to have gone backwards.
