Energy shortage?4 Apr 2022 12:19
With the war between Russia being revealed as dirty (by the Russians) as the news this morning appears to paint it, it seems fairly clear that not only will the war drag on for a long time, but also as a result sanctions will continue to keep Russia’s 17% contribution to worldwide vanadium supplies out of the game. It also seems sanctions by the West will be toughened and therefore either Putin will turn off the gas supply, or, as reported, Germany will cease imports of all oil from Russia by this year end and reduce voluntarily its uptake of Russian gas . Result -higher energy prices for us all.
Small price to pay compared to the suffering of Ukraine.
Boris proposes expansion of nuclear energy supply for UK. it will be years ahead before we will be able to enjoy that.
In the press there is TOTAL silence about the potential storage of energy in grid scale VRFBs, although much comment about wind turbines being increased in number. The only comment about batteries seems to be negative (but accurate) adverse comment about storage of energy in Lithium battery farms, because of their tendency to ignite and burn uncontrollably. May I suggest to all UK investors in BMN that we should each write to our MPs, telling them that there is a completely safe, grid scale energy storage system, being VRFBs and inviting them to alert the government to the usefulness of such system in minimising the number of wind turbines which despoil our green and pleasant land. Just a couple of minutes by us all might enliven the VRFB demand at a time when energy is more valuable than previously thought.
Just an idea . KN
