Maybe someone from Extreme E could explain why they need to use Diesel genset ....as AnneOwl mantioned a few days ago they intend to use HVO ...it quite clearly mentions to supply HVO generators in the Power Logistics page on the Extreme E website... "The contract will see Power Logistics deliver a comprehensive electrical support package that encompasses the Team Garages and the wider Paddock area, along with support structures, broadcast compound and production areas. Thanks Bananaman2 ....I did do some number crunching when this news first came about ....but Extreme E have now introduced 1 more car to the race series and as yet have not said how the new format will work ...going from 8 cars to 9 cars could change many things and as yet it is not clear what the new format will contain ....so we will continue to guess .
As for the Hydrogen production AFC will have done all the calculations to make sure that works .

Taskmaster ....Have you received all the data from AFC / ExtremeE to calculate all this information.... i am assuming you have not ....maybe best to leave it to more qualified personnel.

Under normal circumstances you are correct Bananaman2 .....moving a 40 ft container around the M25 is quite easy ...but Extreme E is being help in remote locations ....were it may be less easy to move around ...remember the original plan was to race in the himalayas ...moving the 10 ft container will prove more efficient....the Extreme E system is 40kW i believe.

The 160kW system is not ready yet Bananaman2....and maybe to large for transporting to race site ...just days to go and so many questions ...

Hi BumbleB2 ....I would say it has something to do with the amount of power the race cars may draw from the battery pack ....solar panels alone could charge the battery but could not replenish the battery quick enough if it was to get to low ...to produce H2 you do not need a hugh array of solar ....a small panel can produce enough H2 over the 2 week period to power the fuel cell ....which will run 24/7 to maintain the battery ....which solar cannot do ....hope that makes some sense .

What is not very clear is what will be powering the TV Networks equipment ...the amount of kit those guys use is astonishing....and how many networks are signed up to cover this series .....10 or more .....unless it is one guy filming with his iphone... that sells the footage to the TV Networks ....can't wait .

AnneOwl...It appears the the KemPower EV charger will be charged from the AFC fuel cell/MSP Storage pack....possiblly for more maneuverability around the race cars ...take the charger to the car ....rather than car to charger ....coupled with the Power Logics cabling ....will stand to be corrected.

The battery pack was MSP provided....The MSP factory was one of the venues for the roadshow .....and will provide the battery pack for the Extreme E unit .

Hi AnneOwl....The plan is to arrive at the race venue 2 week early to prepare H2 production....The first race is Saudi Arabia ...so will not be a problem with low sunshine .

I believe the contract with Extreme E is for 3 years ....that is a good start ....what follows from the global publicity AFC will aquire is potentially mindboggling....AFC are promoting Green Off Grid power delivery....it is not just servicing Watford Gap it has many applications....and bespoke units will be build to order .... the Extreme E contract is far from irrelevant.
