It could mean that we are not fully selling off the renewables business.

This much anticipated acquisition of a production asset could test this theory. We’re all asking how chariot will find it. Debt funding? Some deal done at sub level? Asset swap as part of a Anchois development? But maybe they’re just planning on issuing a billion shares!?

It’s worth adding to it the political dynamic at play between Bangladesh and China. The agreement by China to build and run a 1,000 bed hospital in Northern Bangladesh as well as the near completion of a deal on the Teesta mega project are all positive examples of this dynamic.

Makes it clear that China sees a long term future in Bangladesh. The extension of the MOU, the hospital and the Teesta mega project all point to the GL being given to Phulbari with PC awarded the mining contract. And it could happen quite soon.

When I google 'Barapukuria coal mine expansion' the AI result links both Barapukuria and Phulbari as if they are the same one big coal field:

Chariot offers connections, expertise and speedy decision making. They have already succeeded in the SA renewables space with Etana and multiple IPPs.

ACWA could try replicate all of that success at scale, or simply partner up with a minnow that’s already succeeded. Simple as that really.

PROSPECTIVITY POTENTIAL

At least two (2) potential prospects were identified which are Aptian fan (AO1) and (AO2) (Figure 2). Both AO1 and AO2 potential sand bodies are seen clearly on seismic in Figure 3 below, which is characterized by high amplitude reflectors, continuous seismic event onlapping onto Barremian stratigraphic unit. Both Prospects have a prospective resources of approximately 13.5 TCF of gas.

The gas-to-power piece is there to see. Chariot could have applied for a license area in Namibia with potential multi tcf gas resources, and then a few months later ACAWA comes along with this MoU that specifically states gas-to-power as one of its business objectives. I believe it’s all connected!

The ‘gas to power’ business is specifically mentioned in the MOU with ACWA. For southern Africa this can only mean Namibia.

I would be supportive of the idea that ACWA and Chariots Namibian license application are connected.

Could indeed be a spectacular turn around if Chariot wins the full licenses for both blocks and immediately does a deal with ACWA off rh back of it. Would make an Anchois development seem irrelevant in comparison.

How do we know that in 18 months from now our annual income will be $84mn or so? Is this amount purely from the renewables business, or are you also considering revenues from o&g?

With India currently threatening to cut off power supply to Bangladesh due to payments disputes with Adani it makes it essential to approve OPM at Phulbari. Countries are learning that they have no friends, only interests. And it's in the best interest of Bangladesh to be energy Independent going forward.

Yunus won't be all 'drill baby drill' but I'm hoping he won't definitively reject OPM. Perhaps he will mention it as a necessary evil, something that, while unpalatable, will help ensure the future roll out of his renewable energy vision, economic security, Teesta etc.

This is a possibility. Perhaps the new government will choose to play the long game too. They could tell the people only a decision on opm can occur after they fully evaluate the situation using their own people, and that’ll take a year or two. But of course, time is something they don’t have. Jobs, investment, coal burning power plants, teesta needs action NOW.

And to your point, a quick purchase of GCM to put to the bed the issue of ‘foreigners taking our coal’ could also be on the cards.
