normally stock options are settled net i.e. the broker arranges the trade and gives you the net proceeds (sales price less strike price) the directors have zero risk, and don’t need to put their hands in their wallets at all.

Energean are gearing up for major success on their upcoming Anchois drill. They cashed in assets to the tune of $100’s of millions in order to pay off debt, and to fully exploit their newly acquired stakes in the Lixus and Rissana licenses.

From a recent LinkedIn post:

Our CFO mentioned, during the partnering announcement webinar, that this payback of the carry would be refinanced. IMO they will refinance the entire carry payback with SocGen and periodically extend the payback term.

The article was published on Saturday 25th (the 15% gain in the SP happened the day beforehand)

IMO the SP will surge to +20 the day the GL is formally granted. From then on it all depends on the nitty gritty of the deal as to how higher the SP will go after that.

I’d say we’ll end up giving away a huge % to our Chinese business partners, so that needs to be factored in the our SP speculations.

That article reads like a teaser before the GL is announced. It’s effectively the government advising itself to mine its own coal. Nice!

It reads as though they plan to spud no later than August. So yeah, maybe the wording in the RNS is them just being cautious.

Speaking of which, are you considering holding through to production? Or selling up on the initial rerate?

Rec - I'm invested and hope like everyone else here that we get the approval.

I would assume PC will take a hefty wedge of the project from us if they are to finance the entire thing. I'd imagine we'll be left with c. 10% of the project as a free ride. Given that the value of the the project is worth c. $30bn depending on what discount factor you use (572m tons of coal at $50/tone over 30 years) our value is anywhere from $0.5bn to $2bn, which equates in or around to $1.5 to $7.

Given the above, I think the SP could rush up to about 100p on approval but then fall back as the market takes into consideration the time-lag between approval and cashflows to GCM.

Absolutely terrible result.

It'll be a low-ball offer for sure. The Chinese will need to invest a lot of time and money into the project before it begins to earn them any return. I know it's worth a lot to us )if we entered into a partnering deal and rode it all the way through to production and free cashflow) but the Chinese hold all the cards here i.e. it's only them who can get this thing off the ground, and they can make it very difficult for us if we hold off for a better offer.

I'd say c. 100m for the entire company, which would mean a SP of about 35p.

Our CEO won't sell out for 25p per share. No chance.
