Morning Parky,
Saga cruise bookings are said to be 30% up on last year. I understand they want others to operate them on their behalf, not sell them but sure if right offer came they would grab it it.
I said a few months ago they would be a nice fit for P&O to replace the ageing Aurora & Arcadia. Cheers K
Watcher, The more tankers get hit in the Gulf, the oil price rises.
You may get your wish. K
No dividends for "a few years"
No surprise with that level of debt. K
LSE03.
Good post . Our biggest problem is crewing the ships we have and the new builds.
The Navy is seriously short of personnel. K
Topo. Likely right about the Gulf situation.
Not sure I'd be topping up just now though with restricted travel and impact on fuel prices. K
Morning Bots
My recovery stock this year is Direct Line.
SP was bombed out on motor claims then dividend was scrapped. They , like all have hiked their rates and I expect divi to be reinstated. Formerly one of the most profitable divisions of Natwest.
Cheers K.
ps I have been a long time holder but have added recently, likewise with MNG.
Bots, Tough luck.
I'll buy more Metsa Fibre, they are big in tissue paper.🤣
B&B , Have a look at Harland & Wolff.
Lots going on there and very undervalued.
They have just dry docked an old Costa ship for refurb. They also have a big portion of FSS contract for new Navy support vessels and other MOD work.
Low entry point at 12p, worth a punt ( I have, again)
Cheers/ K
MAS Islander was the old Costa Atlantica.
It was transferred by Carnival to their JV with the Chinese pre pandemic. She must be 20 odd years old, recently operating in the Adriatic area. A big vessel, 85000 tonnes so hopefully a decent big of work . K
Dukey I just got on at 21.98 with Lloyds ( Halifax platform) K
YR. On Arcadia World cruise a few years ago we embarked armed guards ( at sea) before crossing the Straits of Malacca and Indian Ocean. Surprisingly we disembarked them ( again at sea) before visiting Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Jordan. That was Late March 2017 before we'd heard of Houthis but we had Coalition navies in the Gulf because Iran was playing up.
We had security lockdowns, night time blackouts. We had a sail along with RFA Fort Victoria ( on station supporting the Coalition) As we entered the Gulf of Suez we were escorted through the Canal by HMS Daring. Scary times but the party never stopped. K
A few Carnival Group ships operate in that area . UK origin World cruises from P&O and Cunard use Suez so they may have to deviate their routes . K
AParky,
Happy New Year Al.
I gave up the gym for the same reasons.
Too many sweaty young nubile ones exposing me to all manner of bugs😉
Hope you soon better.
Ken
Happy New Year Topo and all posters on CCL.
Enjoy the cruise on QV.
Ken
Bots, re PREM, if only mate. Missus on my case as she's got another 1m.
Worth a punt though. K
Most of my portfolio is in dividend paying stocks. LGEN, MNG, Aviva, all doing well if a bit boring. BT ,VOD & Lloyds, nice divis but SP shot.
I'm expecting a recovery in miners next year. One in particular, PREM. I own 2 million of them and its been a "wild ride" but their Zulu mill in Zimbabwe should finally start to deliver Lithium in Q1. Worth a punt for little money IMHO. Next year Rodney, next year!
All the best. Ken
All the best.
Merry Christmas to all.
Ken
Seeing lots of heavily discounted P&O and Cunard offers . More OBC and drinks package discounts. Maybe everything is not so rosy as we'd like. K
Positive RNS, very encouraging. K
Topo, I'm sure cruise ships will stay well away.
Big shame as for one of the best excursions ships berths in Aqaba for Petra.
Aqaba, Jordan is just a few miles across from Eilat in Israel. This will lmpact P&O , Cunard, World cruises in 2024. K
