Carbon capture and storage projects need sound funding mechanisms and collaboration on networks to develop and de-risk the industry, a cost reduction taskforce has concluded. The industry-led taskforce reiterated a claim from its interim report that gas and coal power stations equipped with CCS could produce power at £100/MWh by the early 2020s and significantly less after that. Two CCS projects remain in the running for a £1 billion government pot to demonstrate the technology on a commercial scale. The Peterhead Project in Aberdeenshire and Yorkshire's White Rose Project are undertaking feasibility studies and one or both could get the funds to proceed. Business and energy minister Michael Fallon welcomed the report and promised a detailed response shortly. "We are one of the world leaders for carbon capture and storage and our £1bn competition to kick-start a cost competitive industry in the UK is making good progress," he said. "We are committed to working with industry so that CCS can realise its potential and compete on cost with other low carbon technologies without capital support from Government. David Clarke, CEO of the Energy Technologies Institute, said it marked "another step in the right direction" but there was still a long way to go to de-risk CCS. He said: "This report sets out some clear guidance on how CCS can evolve and become an important contributor to a low carbon economy in the UK. The emphasis now is on making the report's recommendations a reality."

still no answer from anyone, as to why and what the lasting connection fromCRES to MINING operations is financially, as its mentioned in there annual report but only 400k or summat daft like that........................ shum one is taking the michael .........................???????????? ps why is the sea black browm im skeggy. is it the brown mullet???no my joke

yes FRR I thinks as with a lot of other posters, have end games ,there will be some groups that meet, a few , i think very few may have multiple 'profiles' etc, however taking the EBAY approach, that most people are genuine, then I think having a Overall picture of recent/long term posts from LSE etc ..... and balance this off with Investor info ,(I use Investor Chronicle site, theres also a plethora of info out there, take BRR media , for mining web MD updates etc.) then go with what you read with the glass half FULL not Half EMPTY Anyone that can keep up a group of people with an agenda that is out to shaft everyone for more than a few months will collapse like a house of cards. So I do believe FRR guys know there stuff. but I will be digging very deep and keeping an eye on FRR as with several others that I have interests in

They never wanted to mine coal it was just that they had to take the deep mines so they could operate the open cast mines and of course get the land. It was sold to the bankers for a song. The restructuring by the bankers has once again proved their greed. And the miners????

blogs from BBC:- I believe fire at daw mill could have been prevented and could have been isolated all senior management from daw mill have been found jobs at other pits or paid off contractors given permanent jobs at Thoresby when uk coal workers are made redundant overtime been paid at premium rates when other miners are been laid off company was split up to protect investors NOT WORKERS ONE BIG FARCE

ZI 100 miLLiON £££ ZI ref march 9 2010...SP was 59pence with the company in a similar postion as it is today ( excepting the complex business swap thats been done), the company still mines and they still own land, so the staff still go to work and do the same job ( apart from the 4 people inCRES), so you would be right in wondering why the valuation is so low so can you do some digging. ps CRES your only post?

Zi, can you give a bit more back ground to PEEL on CRES check out there profile on IC, as I cant see where there holding is?. I can see hargreaves 5.45million shares and UBS market makers at 9.52% holding. seen the 2010 news ref PEEL wanting to buy UK COAL looks like they not got a holding, But they are massivley into ports in LIverpool and Manchester. and the mother of all developements which will dwarf anything thats gone on in London on both banks of the Mersey... theyre loaded. so ,moneys no object if they wanna buy

There is a still a huge amount of good quality coal, in thick seams, at Daw Mill and I’ve got lots of blokes willing to risk their lives in an attempt to get the pit back in action. Obviously, safety is paramount but the area affected by the fire could be sealed. Sadly, UK Coal just don’t want to know
