NICE toe in by PEEL this is the Wind farm up at Blue sky forest project up at the former open cast sites will be focussing on these, as I have mentioned the massive CUTACRE development in Bolton is former open cast. so they are very relevant

The wind farm is predicted to generate enough electricity to meet the average needs of approximately 15,500 homes – around 20% of the households in Northumberland. The electricity would be distributed onto the national grid for use in the community but could also be used by other Blue Sky Forest developments, such as the proposed sports academy and hotel, to assist the complex in coming carbon neutral. The turbines can be connected to the national grid through underground cables without needing additional overhead power lines and the electricity distributed according to demand.

The Blue Sky Forest Wind Farm is a consented proposal to install up to 9 turbines on former surface mining land, near Morpeth, Northumberland, capable of generating up to 27MW of electricity. The wind farm will deliver phase one of the Blue Sky Forest initiative – a multimillion pound regeneration project transforming 2,500 acres of former surface mining land into a top leisure, recreational, and tourism complex of regional significance. The initiative is the bold vision of the Widdrington Regeneration Partnership, a local community partnership aiming to regenerate this part of the region through attracting investment, providing employment, and creating a positive legacy for future generations. The wind farm will lay foundations for other proposals at Blue Sky Forest through the installation of access roads and essential electricity network connections. As well as helping to reducing overall construction costs, there is potential to speed up delivery of the complete initiative.

Davies added: “We will provide employment opportunities for all ages, long term jobs with career prospects across all skill levels in an industry that is flourishing, as well as a multi million pound boost to local suppliers. “Active Lifestyle truly represents a real and viable opportunity to play a major role in the regeneration of rural Northumberland.”

A plaza at the hub of the resort will house restaurants, coffee shops, bars and cafés and specialist retail outlets while an “enterprise emporium” will accommodate SMEs offering local produce, arts and crafts, clothing and health & beauty treatments. It is estimated that the resort will bring a much-needed boost to the regional economy, with the local direct impact of the construction works alone estimated at £13m during the two year build phase. Davies is CEO of Active Leisure and has been working on Widdrington’s Active Lifestyle project for the past eight years with his sons Ben and Greg. He said: “Obtaining planning permission for this initial build phase means work will soon start on the ground, which after all this time is clearly very exciting for us. “Active Lifestyle will be one of the most original and exciting leisure experiences to have been created in Britain for decades, bringing pleasure to hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. “It will deliver huge economic benefits to the region and raise national awareness of a beautiful part of the country.” After opening in summer 2016, it is estimated that the extra spend generated by half a million visitors per year and the projected 700 non seasonal jobs being created will top £8m. Local businesses will also benefit from a company policy of using local suppliers wherever possible, to the tune of £4m a year. The planning application heard on Tuesday night was for the initial phase – the creation of a new land formation resulting in the UK’s first man made adventure slopes. Members of Northumberland County Council’s planning committee granted permission for the start of construction of one of the major activity areas, the central hill area to accommodate the ski hill, canyoning, mountain biking and rock climbing, once the full detailed planning application for the Active Lifestyle Resort is lodged this autumn. The area being developed is now owned by Harworth Estates, and is located close to Widdrington railway station. There are plans to run shuttle buses from the station to the resort, and also link it to existing bus routes.

The adventure park, which is being developed on an 800-acre reclaimed former surface mine site near Widdrington,is the brainchild of entrepreneur Chris Davies. Proposals for the adventure park include a 50-acre lake, snow slopes, gorges and canyons, mountain bike trails, off road vehicle courses and the UK’s biggest tree house adventure playground, as well as family fun and luxury relaxation facilities. Outdoor attractions will include equestrian, fishing, skiing, water sports, high ropes courses, woodland adventure activities and 4x4 off roading, while indoor facilities include climbing walls, a fitness centre, water park and spa. The resort would include overnight accommodation, including 100 camping pods and 400 holiday homes. It would attract an estimated 300,000 day visits and 350,000 paid nights’ accommodation per year and create up to 700 all year round, full and part-time jobs.

PEPPERED Area is peppered with former mining works, ALL OURS!!! Im not sure if this includes the larger Mine to the south of the proposed Wind farm. However for sure the 2 that are in the BLUE SKY PLAN will be going ahead, as well of its inclusion of the WIND FARM all good stuff
