Russian energy group Rosneft has begun work on what will be the country’s biggest oil and tanker terminal, despite ongoing sanctions and uncertainty surrounding the war in Ukraine.

The state-owned group said the Bukhta Sever facility on the Arctic coast will serve its big new Vostok Oil project.

The terminal will also help efforts to develop the Northern Sea Route through the Arctic.

Another point, that Peter Zeihan makes and few seem to realize, is that Russia's oil fields are in far-away, isolated and challenging places. It takes sophisticated engineering to keep them going. You can't temporarily suspend the oil flow from these wells. Once they are shut down, they are destroyed. Last time this happened, it took thirty years to restart.
