RE: 2024 Results ?8 Nov 2024 14:09
Most times therre's an offer for a company you'll find the sp will rise to that level, pretty much. there were a lot of buys even at 120 with the idea that they were a guaranteed 20%. that it didn't happen is surprising, though with the amount of horse trading suddenly, likely others knew more than pi's about the reality of the offer?
the point being, anyone who has spent any time in AIM and even the lower priced main market shares, is fully aware that 20%+ is easily achievable in hours, never mind weeks. there's no reason for a holder to have to wait years or 12months to see a benefit. in this case, a lot of holders look at the IPO, the Stonex offer and its historical price and are 'comfortable' to wait it out but it's more about not being able to afford the hit rather than the guarantee of a big move in the future. of course it's possible but if it was easy pickings don't you think Stonex would have gone through with their offer? or is that now seen as being overpriced for where we currently are (obviously we cheaper than ever but if the corproates out there were as convinced of the easy return to higher pricing then i'm sure they will materialise in time. but, meanwhile, it's just not comfortable to be in the red and waiting for one's convictions to come good with a view to waiting 12 months to see a profit. if i wanted to wait that long i'd have taken out a cashISA. this was just what should have been an easy bet that didn't come good, for whatever reason. and waiting for an upturn isn't easy when you know there are probably other opps that might come along, with other shares and surprise drops that would make for easier pickings. but it is what it is...
