Not everyone is 'all in heavy' as you put it drifyk.

I reduced by 25% last week when the news first broke, only time will tell if I have this call right.

I was a little overexposed here in any case & will buy back what I sold if the SP drifts down to 230 ish if & when the takeover rumours fade away.

I have now joined you all & am now the proud owner of 10,000 of these which I will tuck away for a rainy day.

Now, if they do a Tate & Lyle which was one of my first purchases a few weeks ago I guess we will all be happy, thanks again Katie.

Being a newbie investor with a purchase of just under £7,000 worth of TATE shares (now showing £10,602 after last weeks rise) I am considering taking profit here.

I guess any profit is a good profit & for me this is decent money.

Does Boxter possibly mean when do you have to hold shares to qualify for the next dividend?

To qualify for the next dividend you must own the shares before the actual XD date & you can buy them up to the close of business on the day before XD. If you buy on or after the XD date that is too late & you can sell the shares on the XD date and still receive the dividend.

Hi Robleo, it would seem that we are both in quite a few similar stocks which I am comforted by :)

I'm thinking of joining you in PHP but just need to get my head round the amount of debt this company carries. The debt is par for the course with these type of REIT's I suppose, also looking at SUPR.

Gerry557- My understanding is that LGEN & most other insurers pay the dividends twice a year at the rate of 2/3 & then 1/3.

To my knowledge PHNX (now SDLF) are the only insurers to pay dividends 50/50.

A 2% rise on both LGEN's dividends has been muted many time by the BOD so it would appear that you are correct in your assumption there.

Thank you Divi-Collector, LGEN is my largest holding with 8,029 shares so I will probably not add too much here in the future.

My notes which I make up before I push the button on any share highlight that LGEN's dividend coverage is tight. By that I mean dividend payout ratios are projected to exceed 100%, meaning dividends rely on reserves rather than recurring earnings.

Also noted is the declining Solvency II ratio, L&G’s solvency ratio is expected to fall to 190%. If this happens the market won't like it as resilience to unexpected events will reduce thereby bringing the SP down.

Competition in LGEN's core markets is also hotting up on both sides of the Atlantic, affecting margins & thereby future profits.

Please don't misunderstand I really like this company but as with all businesses there are always headwinds.

Hi all, I am looking to buy in here & am encouraged by the recent almost £200K director buy.

I see a lot of SP upside here but if anyone has any alarm bells lurking in the shadows why I should not buy I would be grateful for a heads up, thanks.

As a new keen to learn investor I would value the opinion of others more experienced as to which companies I should currently be researching. My theory is to buy decent companies paying half decent dividends which I will re-invest up to retirement. Currently I have in alphabetical order AV. / BTRW / EZJ / LGEN / MNG / MRCH / NWG / PSN / SDLF / TATE & TW.
