Well "Cheated" simply acquiring pure hydrogen fuel can be challenging and transporting the gas requires specialised high-pressure or cryogenic tanks. As for costs Hydrogen generators and their fuel cells represent a high initial investment & to cap it all the cheapest way to make hydrogen also makes lots of carbon dioxide. So, not good business sense there.

However, NG USA recently announced that it will install the first commercially-deployed, 100 percent hydrogen-fueled linear generator in the world at its Northport Power Plant. So, maybe the electricity vultures as you put it aren't quite so bad after all.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that drugmaker Hikma's generic version of Amarin Pharma's cardiovascular medication Vascepa ​did not ‌infringe Amarin's patents, in a decision that may make generic drugmakers less vulnerable to patent lawsuits involving so-called "skinny labels."

The justices, in ⁠a 9-0 ruling, overturned a lower court's decision in favor of ⁠Amarin. Generic drugmakers argued that a ruling in ​favor of Amarin in the case would have discouraged them from making and selling their lower-cost drugs and increased U.S. drug prices.

President Donald Trump's administration supported Hikma's Supreme Court appeal.

Pharmaceuticals can be protected by patents covering both the drug's ​active ingredient ‌and specific methods of using it.

"Skinny labels," meant to encourage generic competition, are intended to allow generic drugmakers to avoid patent lawsuits if the label of their generic omits infringing uses of the brand-name drug it replicates.

The FDA approved London-based Hikma's generic Vascepa solely to treat severe hypertriglyceridemia and required it to include a skinny label ​that omitted the drug's use to treat non-severe hypertriglyceridemia, which was still covered by Amarin patents.

Vascepa, derived from ‌fish oil, has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to lower triglycerides, a common type of fat, and reduce the risk of heart issues. ‌It is currently Amarin's only product.

Irish-American biopharmaceutical company Amarin earned $213.6 million in revenue from Vascepa sales in 2025, according to a company filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The FDA approved Vascepa in 2012 to treat ​severe hypertriglyceridemia, a condition involving an excess of fats in the blood, before approving it for less-severe hypertriglyceridemia in 2019.

Amarin sued Hikma in ‌Delaware federal court in 2020. Amarin argued that Hikma's label, combined with statements in press releases and on its website, encouraged doctors to prescribe it for the less severe condition.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said ⁠Hikma publicly referred ⁠to its drug as "generic Vascepa" without clarifying that it was approved only ‌for one specific use, which could have encouraged doctors to prescribe it for infringing uses.

Hikma told the Supreme Court in a brief that ​generic drugs have saved patients and ​insurance payers an estimated $2.9 trillion in the past decade. The company and ‌the Trump administration both argued that allowing lawsuits like Amarin's could disincentivize generic drugmakers and lead to increased drug prices.

Amarin told the justices that Hikma's alleged infringement was atypical, noting that it had not sued seven other companies that also make generic Vascepa.

I have sold out here fully today & also sold all of my MNG & SDLF & two thirds of my LGEN.

All have realised very good profits, I just have an inkling that economic headwinds are coming down the track which may adversely affect these companies.

Governmental shenanigans don't help & as we all know there's a fair bit of uncertainty with our current incumbents.

A spell on the sidelines with cash waiting to be deployed has stood me in good stead before so let's see this time round.

In answer to your question the 2% increase applies to the dividend per share as part of the three year capital allocation plan.

This was announced by the company some time ago & it applies through to 2027.

Following on from what Throne says & although I have recently reduced here (I will buy again before August if the SP falls anywhere near 250) if you hold for 15 months you get 3 x payouts. At todays SP these will pay you just over 10% in dividends totalling 28.6p if the 2% rises announced go ahead, which they will.

Despite the optimism of some on here I have this morning sold 50% of my holding so now I'm reduced by 75% of my previous high.

Why, because these were showing a fantastic profit (I've had them for some time) & I have the £££'s earmarked for elsewhere.

That & the fact that major brokers RBC Capital Markets & Jefferies (yes I know what opinions are of brokers but what they say does affect SP's) have recently cut earnings forecasts and downgraded the stock to "underperform," citing mounting competition, lower initial spreads on annuity underwriting & a weaker income profile compared to European & American rivals.

Shepster, I am of the opinion that any takeover involving LGEN is pie in the sky.

Mainly because as LGEN manages a very large portfolio of UK government bonds & serves millions of pensioners, any acquisition would face heavy scrutiny from financial regulators.

If the dividend cover was better I may add in the future but for me LGEN operates in a really competitive industry and is up against some much more powerful players so I am comfortable with my recent decision to trim here by 25%.

If Burnham gets in & then becomes PM, which is looking very possible, a windfall tax on banks profits is also very possible.

We all know what that will do to bank share prices.

So voters in Makerfield who own bank shares I would think very carefully of who you vote for next week.

Winston Churchill had little, if any, role in the concentration camps, he was in South Africa during the war as a correspondent for the Morning Post. It was as a war-reporter that he was captured by the Boers on 15 November 1899 and imprisoned in a prisoner of war camp, from which he later escaped.

Churchill had considerable respect for his captors. In his maiden speech to Parliament in February 1901 he went out of his way to say that if he had been a Boer ‘I would have hoped I would be fighting in the field. It was only in December 1905 when he became Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies in a Liberal government that Churchill really had any real influence over policy towards South Africa.

Uncle Doug, buying now is an obvious risk as there is still the vote to come & you also have to factor in regulatory approval.

Yes buying at today's price for £5.95 on completion plus 20p dividends will give a profit IF the deal goes through but you can do almost as well over the next 12 to 18 months simply buying LGEN & taking the 8% odd dividends.

Air France / KLM chief executive Ben Smith has indicated he would be willing to consider involvement in discussions tied to a potential bid for easyJet, according to remarks reported by Bloomberg.

Smith said he would “absolutely” take a call from U.S. investment firm Castlelake if it proceeds with a formal proposal while stressing that Air France / KLM is not currently participating in any bid for easyJet.

Castlelake is considering a takeover offer for easyJet and has until the end of the month to decide whether to move forward or abandon the plan. Smith noted that interest in easyJet is unsurprising, pointing to what he described as the airline’s “very impressive” network of landing rights.

He also said Air France / KLM is not involved in any active transaction but left open the possibility of future discussions if approached. “Absolutely, and I expect all our competitors would do the same,” Smith said when asked whether the company would take a call about a potential proposal.

Castlelake’s potential move would require a European partner due to regulatory restrictions that prevent a U.S. firm from holding a majority stake in a European airline. Air France / KLM has previously worked with Castlelake, including in a joint acquisition involving Scandinavian carrier SAS.

​Reuters - U.S. food ingredients maker Ingredion is in advanced talks to ​acquire ‌Britain's Tate & Lyle in a deal valued at £2.7 billion ($3.6 ⁠billion), Bloomberg News reported on Sunday. Ingredion ⁠aims to announce ​a deal as soon as Monday, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

Illinois-headquartered Ingredion is ​set ‌to unveil a firm offer valued at 615 pence per share, Bloomberg said.

Tate & ‌Lyle said in May that Ingredion was in talks over a possible ‌takeover valuing the London-listed firm at 615 pence per share, comprising 595 pence in cash and ​up to 20 pence in dividends.

The price represents a premium ‌of around 25% to Tate & Lyle's closing price on Friday.

A deal between Tate & Lyle, known for its ⁠artificial sweeteners ⁠used in Coca-Cola drinks, and ‌Ingredion, could create a food and beverage ingredients giant worth ​more ​than $10 billion, at a time when consumers ‌are increasingly opting for low-calorie drinks and diets.

Possibly SilverK but then again any decision might be delayed if permission to extend is granted.

In any case 50% of the armchair commentators (who don't really have a clue but who say they think there are serious doubts about this deal without giving reasons) could be wrong as could the other 50% who hold the contrary view.

June 2 (Reuters) - British ​budget airline ⁠easyJet has caught the eye of U.S. investment ​firm Castlelake for a possible takeover. While easyJet has called the timing "highly opportunistic", analysts say its low valuation, slots at key airports and ​stable fleet ‌make it a prime takeover target as it has struggled to boost its market capitalisation since the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Few ⁠people can resist a bargain," said Chris Beauchamp, chief market analyst ⁠at trading platform IG.

SHARES UNDERPERFORM RIVALS

The ​British carrier's shares have underperformed peers like Ryanair, making it attractive to potential suitors.

"EasyJet has 'looked cheap' for some time," Deutsche Bank analyst Jaime Rowbotham wrote in a note, adding that possible attractions could be its airline fleet, room ​to boost ‌margins and efficiency, and the airport slots it commands.

"This latest bid speculation will likely see a boost again to the easyJet share price."

HOLIDAY BUSINESS BOOMS

A successful holiday business and an efficient Airbus fleet have bolstered results, despite the airline's struggle to grow passenger numbers from its position between low-cost and traditional rivals like British ​Airways operator AIG. EasyJet also has no direct exposure to the Middle East, where flights have been disrupted by ‌the three-month-old Iran war.

Bank of America analysts said Castlelake's strategic plan was unclear, but the airline's fleet could be of interest. They estimated a takeover ‌at a price of £6.50 per easyJet share.

Monday's high of £4.50 per share valued easyJet at about £3.4 billion. The stock is still down about 15% for the year.

EasyJet has drawn deal speculation for years with slots ​at airport hubs in London, Paris and Geneva making it an interesting takeover target for larger players looking to expand their footprint, ‌despite competition challenges to any deal.

'FEW PEOPLE CAN RESIST A BARGAIN'

Jet fuel costs have spiked since the start of the Iran war in late February, hitting the wider sector. However, longer-term easyJet had been reining in fuel ⁠costs since ⁠a pandemic-driven spike, while revenue per available seat km has risen.

Barclays analyst ‌Andrew Lobbenberg cautioned that demand in the short-haul leisure market in Europe has been significantly affected by the conflict, and said easyJet's ​fairly low margins mean tough ​external factors hit profits quite hard.

Lobbenberg added that while easyJet is Europe's worst-performing ‌airline stock this year, its assets including its fleet, slots and holiday business, were undervalued. He estimated them to be worth over £11 per share.

Why bother with this shambles any longer? FGT was the worst performing Morningstar rated trusts in May with a fall of 2%.

This also makes the trust the worst performer among Morningstar covered trusts in the year to date. Long suffering holders are used to this but surely it's time to call a halt.

35% of this is held in just 3 companies ULVR, EXPN & LSE, the first two being majorly affected by AI, why can't the fund manager see this & hasn't he heard of diversification?

Borrowing to invest, which goes on here only accelerates losses during downturns & it doesn't take a genius to work out we are in a downturn.

All the while the fund managers get paid (£4.9 million last year) & holders don't.
