Stifel recommendation BUY, target 460p.

(Very) Long term HBR holder here ... and intend to continue to hold/add over time.

With all this damage and necessary reconstruction just wondered if other HBR holders have (and are increasing) other oil-industry-related stocks; I've added to my existing holdings of IMI.L (fluid control / oil pumps) and WEIR.L (services support / consultancy engineering) recently. Anyone else have a similar plan?

Wouldn't surprise me when Iran calls his bluff as they may be prepared to escalate a lot. Their aggressive neighbour also has an escalatory strategy called "Samson" (named after the biblical story) where faced with defeat they'll take everyone out (including themselves). Most Western warfare relies on a rational opponent, and in this war, the rationality of all protagonists is somewhat questionable.

Wouldn't surprise me if Miliband approves the drilling in the NS but puts the EPL up (to 100%?) so as to benefit "hard working families" that are "struggling with the cost-of-living crisis". Government will argue that the rise in oil price is giving rise to a "windfall" for oil companies that is not due to their operational performance and hence should go to the treasury. Glad we've spread our interests to other quarters of the world.

Rot1, yes I realise that, but it's still our money EPL/WFT is thieving. I read the other day that the effective rate of tax for HBR operations in the North Sea is over 100% (108%?). Govt doesn't give a monkey's, but is quite happy to take the money.

Wonder how much the EPL is holding back HBR? Enquests results this week were pummeled by the windfall tax. I'm hoping £3 is the floor now, and we'll see progressive improvement in share price.

I tend to avoid trading around the end/start of tax year, and definitely avoid the bed-and-isa processes offered by many brokers. Not very transparent sometimes. But I will be making regular monthly top ups.

Likewise. Topped up today at £2.58. Strong buy at that price IMO.

The (closing) prices on this list are correct, but the mkt cap figures are not in agreement with the stock exchange data. HBR is more like 89th position using the London mkt caps. I guess we'll all find out tomorow,

Initial rumours of a potential approach from Bridgepoint and 270p-280p being bandied about in the media.

IMO still on the low side for a company with a lot of potential.

To persuade me, I'd be looking for 300+, up where we were a couple of years back.

Could get interesting if another potential bidder emerges.
