Exact opposite today, Fed rate uncertainty is driving current prices on the FTSE. Once that's know the market will behave itself haha Fed rate decision announcement is at 7pm UK time Wednesday.

With that said, Gold is seems to be holding up at the moment. Anyway, VOD should get a run tomorrow by the looks of things. Further and further away from that £1 hahaha

7015 in IG Index Dow 19,832 Brent Gapped up to 56.5 ish on opening, then rose to 57.5 ish on the OPEC deal news. Tomorrow is looking good for the markets in General. Gold testing previous lows though, so my FRES will give back it's profits if the test fails... but other stocks should rally and drown it out though.

Yeah Trump has the mentality of a billionaire. If he can step it to stop the pen pushers preventing takeovers he'll do it I reckon. Note: This is not my full opinion of Trump's mentality, so no Trump hating posts from anyone please haha... purely from a business perspective I'm talking.

Ah, interesting mate... didn't know that. I had read articles a while back making it look like they were business rivals. They must be rivals to a degree, but in a healthy way. Vodafone have tie ups with Liberty in other countries from what I read... so I suppose nothing should be ruled out. Business changes so fast.

ITV is overbought on the daily RSI... but that doesn't mean it will drop, or if it does... could just be a bit of profit taking before the next leg up. But it's off my radar now for a while. I'll check it's chart based on price movements though to see where it is occasionally.

Danny, My wife got a job over there. The terms were good, so we went. This was before the little one came along. I got an IT job there too. Then we moved back to the UK for my wife's job too. We've been in England for 5 years... lived in Shoreham near Brighton for about 3 of that, and also Bristol.

Picket, Yeah I think so, it's a far smaller company than VOD... it would be an easier buy. And give a fair bit of market penetration for the viewing numbers. I reckon a takeover of a Telecoms company is much harder for Liberty... 53 Billion market cap for VOD aint small change, and there would need to be a premium on it too. ITV would give the biggest bang for buck, albeit I don't know all the finer details... so a pure guess.

Danny, I'm in WPG, RB., UU., FRES and VOD. RB. is almost break even from the stamp duty and fees, UU. is about 0.8% underwater... all others are in decent profit. You got lucky with ITV to get that gain so quick mate. I reckon it will do more than £2, but that big jump was down to the Sky deal I reckon. There's a chance Murdoch will want ITV too.

Cash hasn't been abolished. There's a deadline of the 30/12 to pay all 500 and 1000 Rupee notes into the bank, to get rid of Black Money. There's two types of money in India Black money and White Money. If you buy a house in India for example, you usually pay a chunk in unofficial Black money (that doesn't go on the books) and White money which is the official registered sale price. If you buy a house in India it's very difficult to avoid this, people literally turn up with holdalls and suitcases full of cash. This is why the Indian government is taking the notes out of circulation, it creates a massive windfall for India from the dodgy money. They are creating 2000 Rupee notes for use after the Black money has been taken out of circulation, so it will start again... it will just take a long while to build back up again. How do I know this? I lived in India for 2 years :-)

Sky piggy backs on O2's network. But BT have recently bought EE... so Rupert Murdoch might want to buy O2 and John Malone might want to buy Vodafone. But then there's the anti competition considerations and whether the government would allow it or not.

Offt that would have been a nice one for unsuspecting holders. Will look into the Liberty Media speculation, and the ins and outs of it. Vodafone is a very big market cap company though, would it be too big for John Malone? According to Wikipedia the Virgin Mobile contract was renegotiated with EE in 2010. So I reckon we need to find out when that contract comes to an end again... this could be when Liberty Media (who owns Virgin Media) could look at either using Vodafone's Network as they have deals in other countries... Or even buy Vodafone. But 50 Billion seems like a rather large market cap for Liberty Media to be gobbling up, no?

The free version will give a trial of "realtime" charts, but it will revert back to "delayed" (which is isn't great). I have the PRO Account $14.95/m and LSE - London Stock Exchange (UK Companies) $8.00/m so I get real time data and unlimited indicators. Right now I have 9 charts open with 8 indicators running simultaneously over 9 browser tabs lol

Danny, Get access to TradingView.com there you can experiment with different time frames and indicators... and google what each one does and how to use them. But support and resistance are the most important. I use.... Bollinger bands MACD RSI StochRSI ADX and Di combined on the one indicator Wave Trend Oscillator And a variety of SMA... but the 200sma is best for confirming a healthy stock. But again support and resistance should always be the first place you look.

RSI has broken out of Oversold and MACD has turned positive on the daily chart. SP is above the 20sma all encouraging, but no confirmed uptrend on the daily yet. ADX and Di is where trend confirmation takes place, albeit it's a lagging indicator. 25 or above is considered a strong trend, the ADX is currently 57 However... -di is still higher than the +di, when the plus crosses the -di it's game on.

JD, Then I am with you on this, there is a good chance of massive deregulation and a return of 2008 over time. Henry Paulson was an ex Goldman Sachs exec, and he was in Bush's administration when the financial crises got cooking. I'll watch this closely when he's inaugurated..

I agree 80% of people lose, because 80% of people don't know what they're doing. They don't know the first thing about technical analysis and just trade with speculation. But spread betting is good for making money in the opposite direction (shorting). There are very few methods the little guy like us can use to short stocks. We can't borrow stocks on the market, that's for financial institutions. So we have to bet on the outcome. The danger is, the spread betting companies provide plenty of leverage so those who don't know what they are doing leverage their positions too much due to either greed or desperation in trying to trade out of losing positions.
