you could be right Pecten11... im guessing obviously but i would think surrendering the right to compensation would be a given and a fair negotiation would be something like, No compensation but the return of the parcel ( check) and either continuing the licence ( if the clock is still valid ie lets say there is 20 years left ) or an extension for the time wasted re the court case. ??? Pure guess but Zim wants to be seen as moving away from the toxic high risk localle and this would be a good start.

the high court ruled on ownership of the parcel, ownership could only be contested if mining them in the first place was in breach somehow, ergo by accepting vast ownership of the parcel the mining authorities have accepted the validity of the various permits ect at the time of them being mined and defacto that Vast was mining legally and as such resuming mining is a given.
The proviso being any negotiation re extending licence to cover the down time and/or waiving of right to recourse re compensation re down time in return for extending licence ( possibly )
Maybe im way off the mark but not challenging the high courts ruling not only clarifies ownership of the parcel but also reaffrims the legality of the licence! So when not if in other words ???

... wasnt that the quote ?? A bold statement that would seem hyperbole unless he was refering to the resumption of mining. The parcel is nice to be sure, but its the acknoledgement of the rights of the miner and the potential/probable return to mining that would make that statement a truism and not a sound bite. Anyone done the maths re sp what would happen if/when that state of affairs came to pass ?
TBH its why im holding because in spite of shares in issue being vastly higher etc than when the " parcel" was set asside even the rumour that vast is to resume mining takes this into orbit in my hopeful opinion. :) gla mental
