n the operational update announced on 19 July 2013, Zambeef highlighted two issues which would negatively impact the Group in the second half of the financial year. These were allegations relating to the contamination of imported beef products and lower than forecast global wheat prices. In July, the effect of these issues could only be estimated and it is disappointing to have to announce that, together with some additional cost pressures, the financial impact on the Group is significantly worse than originally anticipated.

Whilst there remain challenges ahead, particularly due to the uncertain economic climate and its knock-on effects on the major coal users in the power generation and steel sectors, we believe that the Group's resilience leaves it well positioned to deal with any further market volatility. The UK business, strengthened by the recent surface mining investments, provides a sound platform to look selectively at additional expansion opportunities. Recent trading in the UK has been encouraging and we remain confident of achieving expectations for further growth in the current financial year.

...fast growing market ...experienced/aligned management team (own 40%+, I think...dyor ...bought big @15p) ...e-defence product that some reckon fairly decent ...c10p or so / share in net cash ...EV/rev~1 ..check the calcs, dyor...pays yr money/takes yr choice.. ..there are plenty of worse investments out there lol
