The project is being developed and currently owned by GCM Resources and Power Construction Corporation of China. The company's ownership stake in the project stands as 80% and 20% respectively.

It is a Steam Turbine power plant. The fuel will be procured from Phulbari coal mine.

The thermal power project will consists of 2 turbines each with 1,000 MW nameplate capacity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2026. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2028.

Just my thoughts:

Looking at the similarities of recent buying (last 3 months), there appears to be the majority of buying activity from 08:30 - 14:30 hrs, before the selling restarts ( on the higher volume day)

Makes me think that whom ever is accumulating possibly from Asia where they are a few hours in-front of uk time.

On that thought, would it be possible that our Chinese partners (Who we think would take us out) be accumulating in the background under the radar to make the final offer value for all outstanding shares. This would reduce their cost as they would already own a good percentage of the company shares already.

What are the policy options that the government can implement in the next fiscal budget to overcome these barriers?

First, achieving efficiency in the energy sector and providing a roadmap for uninterrupted power supply for businesses is of paramount importance. Rationalising the prices of electricity is necessary, but a radical adjustment in electricity and other fuel prices will further deteriorate the investment potential.

The directives came while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined a meeting at her official Ganabhaban residence here on Thursday night.

After the meeting, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader formally disclosed it to journalists in front of the Ganabhaban.

Quader said the Prime Minister has given the directives in view of establishing a non-communal Bangladesh.
