I am sure that HSBC have posted me a lot of letters explaining what chioces i can make but im not in the uk so havent read any post for 6 months. Ive had no emails from them. But i have just sent them one today

ive just checked my accound it shows 22440 with zero value. I assume i had 33000 Amara shares. ( 22440 / 0.68 ). I cant get my head round this:: (ShareCast News) - Amara Mining has agreed an all-paper merger with Australia's Perseus Mining that values Amara at £68.3m, or 16.3p per share. Shareholders in AIM-listed Amara, which will own 35.1% of the enlarged entity, have been offered 0.68 new Perseus shares for each AMA share, together with a warrant for 0.34 Perseus shares that will strike at AUD 0.44 per share for a period of 36 months. Recommending the deal to their shareholders, the board of the two companies said the offer represented a 42% premium to Amara's price on Friday of 10.3p, or a 28% premium against the 20-day volume-weighted average. Perseus shares have traded down 11%, pointing to a current implied value of 12.8p per share for Amara, or a 25% premium to Friday's price, excluding the warrant.

These shares in my HSBC account show as zero value. I've not been in UK for 6 months and did not follow any of this deal... what exactly did we get for our amaranth shares ? I had my amara share for quite a few years and was holding at a big loss. So I choose just to keep them and forget about them hoping the price would rise in future years. I think my average price was about 30p

Sorry to ask but I'm unable to log on to my share account from a tablet at the moment. What did we get in pence per amara share ? Will my HSBC account have sold my shares as they are not listed on UK market?

Have to wait till 23rd Feb to find out if they are cutting the dividend. If it was cut by 50% i would think this share price would go up a lot

Half Yearly Results Announcement and Dividend Determination is on 23rd Feb. If they don't cut the 80p this share should fly as at £7 that is a 11.4% yield... if they cut it 50% to 40p it is still 5.7% at £7 so I would expect this to get back to £10 or more where the yield would be around 4%. My average is around £12

I don't think you have missed the £8... I was in these in the past at £18, lucky for me I got our with profit and left them for a bit. I think I started back in below £14 in small amounts all the way down till now. My average is a little over £12. I think it will recover to that within 1 year and in the mean time I will get dividends. The Divi was $1.24 ( 80p ).... So even if it gets cut by 50% is it still a 5% yield on a £8 share price. BUT it might not get cut, or a least not by that much in which case someone is getting a bargain at £8. we will get to know on or before the 23rd Feb

My average price is around £12.20.. I have just bought a few more at 801p,,, so it is going to go down for sure now... I think my keyboard has a direct link to the shorters. I am not joking when I say, all the shares i have sold this year have gone up since and all the ones I kept of bought more of have gone down. My portfolio is embarrassing. Rio / Glencore / BHP / HSBC plus more. Plus AIM which I will never touch again. 1 tip off a friend which I bought in June got delisted this week. I have learnt a lesson with AIM over the last few years. However thinking I was playing safer with good FTSE dividend stocks like HSBC / BHP / GSK / HSBC and they have all shafted me as well.

Yes something like that. It just seems too good to be true that you can buy some shares today and get all your money returned and still have shares in a company.

So what is the catch ?

So buying 1000 shares now for £990, you get £900 capital return back soon and £100 in 1 years time and still have shares in the company ? so why are so few people buying now at 99p ?

as i have not been following this thread in the last month. Anybody buying 1000 shares today at 99p for £990 (ignoring charges) will get 90p x 1000 back end of Dec = £900. After this 10 to 1 consolidation they will then be left with 100 shares worth 90p each. Next year they will get 100 x £1 ? is that right or is it 100 x 10p ?

Thanks That is what I thought. BUT my letter only mentions the 90p and the 10p and a record date of 17th Dec. They could have made it clearer my saying a future record date will be announced for the 10p.

Just received my letter from HSBC regarding the QPP consolidation and return of capital. It states that the record date is the 17th December. Question is : if i still hold my shares on the 17th Dec does this entitle me to the 90p and the 10p even if i sell my shares after December ?
